We go thru a lot of postcards here. I take all the photos and print them when I get a good coupon from VP.
My mom has a friend who's a flower photographer and she loves the note cards her friend sends to her. Blanks my mother can use herself.
Ok, background out of the way, I thought I might make up note cards to sell here. Put together in groups by theme. (Flowers, birds, beach scenes.)
Before you say no one sends cards remember my market is mostly over 60.
What do you think?
I'll check the order I just placed (for mom) to see if they even look nice.

try it! use a promo code on vp. i used to give away postcards - then i'd go over to the general store and see people buying them. i'm not 60 yet but i like them. i think your market will, too.

I just used a 40% off code which paid for the shipping.

I had a recipe that I put on a postcard that I gave out. I had some made up for Himself to use as his biz card - photo of one of his paintings with his contact info on the back. I also had some made to put into "goodie bags" for some conferences with discounts on the back (no, none came in but it did not cost much and got my name out there). I also use a postcard as my elopement promo.
One of the conferences was a motorcycle (trikes) and I used a photo I took of some guests in my yard with their trike & trailer. She was thrilled when I asked permission to use them for it.

So, did they sell?

I am sorry. I did not try to sell them. I just used them as promo items. However - I DO believe if you had a photo of the finished product with recipe on the back and put say 5 together in a zip bag or sleeve for $2.00 that they would sell.

I think it's a great idea. My 28 year old daughter sends postcards from every place she visits. Guests might buy them and keep them as a memento, especially if they like the photos you use.

They will also keep the recipe if it is something they like. Plus it night get passed around to friends.

I think it is a good idea. You have to give it a try.
We have seen our cards some times stay and some times people do use them. Last year no one took one card. But other years a few have been taken.
We have pictures of the area on post cards. Also recipes one one side , other have been a rack card size turned into a post card.Like pictures of our place one side then the other side has room for small blurb and a fine line coming down one side for an address and a small box on the right corner for stamp.
We do not charge for them . It is there for their use.

Postcards are free but for me to buy the note cards is kind of pricey so I'd charge for a pack of those.

YES
A big YES. If they are regional and unique, absolutely. If they are too costly, they won't sell, tho. What is the price like? $9.95 for a set?
They are cards with envelopes right? Share them with me when you get a chance off line... I am a card maniac and I would buy them. I would love to see original photos too.

and...do a competition on your eNews and/or social media to win a set maybe. Might be a good thing.

When I get the first batch I'll let you know how they printed. Yes, with envelopes and $10. (Makes the tax math easier.)
All local stuff. Most photos on my website already.
How many 'art cards' would you expect for $10? (The same sort of thing sells for $4.95 - $6.95 each at the local book store. We also sell the same syrup here that they charge 30% more for.)
Love the idea of giving away a set as a contest idea.

I would expect 4 or 5
and THAT is a bargain.
I have a card to send to my sister for her bday that I paid $4.99 for at the grocery store. It was a neat card, and had no bells nor whistles, just a sweet card.
I know there are dollar stores and all the basic cards, but for a nice card you pay more, and for a photo and local card, much more.
I had a guest try to get me to sell cards of photos her daughter took. They need to be local or not at all, anyone can take nice photos. She had them printed up like watercolors, so I liked that, but not selling a card of a chimp in the chicago zoo, sorry.

Maybe I should try that. Run the photo thru the software to make it look like a painting. (I'm sure there is a word for that process.)

Quite a few actually.
I know it was a factor as they used handmade thick off white paper to print it on, so it was pretty neat.

You could try selling for $4.74 ($5.00 with tax) or $9.48 ($10.00 with tax)

I can get them printed on linen paper. That might impart that look. I'd have to order a sample.

I love that. I would.

And people don't use magnets, this doesn't mean they don't sell them in every single tourist destination on the planet.
