free service, found in an article about preventing robocalls, telemarketers, political calls. If it recognizes the number, it hangs up. Did not try it yet.

Just because you found it...doesn't mean anything about it is true. I would never give my information to a no name website I knew nothing about. No way would I trust that site. You might end up getting more and who knows what else. On the other hand...it could be good.
You have to have VOIP phone service for it to work. I don't so no good for me.

I believe VOIP could be set up with something as simple as a $49 MagicJack.
For someone starting out or getting plagued with this may be an option. Once started, I will plan to try this. If causes issues, can make adjustments.

Don't worry EN, this is a trusted site. I've checked it out before and unfortunately, even though I'm using VOIP, I can't use it with my charter service.

I don't need magic jack. I have no need of this service. I just don't pick up or hang up if I get one.

I have a magic jack. nomorerobo does not work with it.
I gave it a try.
I have a cell phone and a magic jack. Not many people have my numbers, so the sales calls that come in are truly robo dialed.
Weird is my sister has a landline, I tried enrolling her number with nomorerobo and the screen message was that her number is already enrolled -- but she is clueless about that. Odd.
It's probably pointless to enroll her because she answers and talks to telemarketers all the time. She is also inundated with 'charity' requests by mail because she sends them checks for $1 or $5 and reads ALL the mail that comes in. Her info has likely been sold many times over.
I learned about nomorerobo from Kim Komando who I've been following for years.

Question: Are most of your robo calls on your 800 phone number? Ninety five % of mine are. I asked the telephone company that if I changed my 800 number and did not list it anywhere would I still get robo calls?. After checking the other B and B's in town, I am the only one with an 800. I really only need the 800 for my scattered family. The phone company said I would get robo calls as they just go up and down all possible numbers. Yikes.

I have been using no mo robo for several months now and our calls have decreased a lot. At first the one ring was an annoyance but now I am trained to not even blink until I hear a second ring.
I think we talked about this a few months ago here on the forum so there is more information floating around in a different thread, for those who want more discussion.
Yes...here it is: https://www.innspiring.com/node/16307

A few people reported that they had issues with it not working with MagicJack, etc.
Does your post on the thread you linked, indicate you use Comcast VOIP? Or a landline?
