What's your biggest concern about opening a B&B?

Hi everyone,
I work for a company that's going to be interviewing successful B&B and hotel owners about their businesses, and then posting the videos on YouTube. We want them to offer advice to aspiring owners like yourselves (we're calling them mentor sessions). I was just wondering if anybody here had questions that they would like answered? Like how you should approach being a new business owner, or how you should choose the right property, that kind of thing. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Sounds interesting. You may be best served from reading past topics on those subjects.

Most of us here are already innkeepers or retired.We pretty much know those answers. Just read here and you will find them as well.

One of the hurdles that aspiring innkeepers have to clear is how to finance their project, whether a start-up or buying a turn key, because there aren't many "conventional" loan sources. There are too many aspirings who start looking before they have financing in order. Most B&B owners who are selling don't want to offer "creative" financing that will tie them to some risk if the new owners aren't able to make a go of it, such as "rent to own" . The sellers want to have money in hand, and leave. So your company would do a great service to the industry if you could find owners who have been able to find financing in the past two or three years and would be willing to share how that is working out for them.

There are at least 100 successful inn owners on this site. How many have you contacted to be IN your videos instead of asking here what questions need answering?

Personal time was my biggest concern. Quality of life.

Consultants get paid for their services. Anyone asking questions gets answers here for free. The "company" expects to make a profit from this in some way or they would not be doing it. I get "used" enough already.

How much are you going to be paying for our time?

to be fair to upside its not a bad idea - small fee to interviewee and small fee to view
don't feel anything that actually educates people on the fact we are a proper industry that requires planning is a benefit as sick to death of the "how hard can it be?" crowd! mind you they always seem to sell up and get out quickly when they realise its actually a business!

There is a HUGE difference between hotels and bed and breakfasts. Videos should not apply to both. totally different audience.
Most of us are way past learning about or need to know what you are talking about.
You should be hiring us to produce your videos. We are already experts in our minds.

I would be interested in learning about working with social media influencers, but I would want a knowledgeable expect that would be willing to share important information about the formulas being used to pay them and quite exactly what the minimum return should be.

I should have been clearer, sorry - videos don't apply to both. We're creating videos in different hospitality streams - hotels, B&Bs and restaurants.
