On another thread, discussion of NoMoRobo, related to robocalls.
==> Curious about your tricks (either answering phone or using machine) to manage live callers - bookers, lookers, charity seekers, those wanting directions/recommendations, etc.
In other words, what ways have you found to reduce the load while servicing prospects and guests?
Also, any chance of owner adding a forum for the phone? Seems such a huge part of the daily experience, might be worthy of its own place...

Aggro day for me with this, i am answering them today as I am expecting an important call. VM is what they will be getting soon. I wish I had a solution.

I answer the phone. Of course having people make reservations online, the calls have dropped by 50%.
I know that when the phone rings, people will want to talk to me about the experience. How can I not answer the phone?

The stupid calls are out of control. Today I was checking in guests so DH answered the phone. Guy on the phone asked for me by name and told DH it was about a wedding.
When I got back I called the number and it turned out to be a solicitor! Outrageous! And I went off on him. Oh dare they!

I am with you, Iris. I always answer the phone because I get a lot of phone reservations. I think THEY are the ones who want to talk to the innkeeper, not the innkeeper wanting to talk to them. Recording we just hang up. Dead Air, I say Happy New Year and hang up.
