This was in the recent PAII email:
Outdated information is a frustration for everyone, and now Google has announced their plan to follow up Google My Business users via email to confirm that they are still actively managing a business page when there has been 6 months of inactivity. Check out the link to Mike Blumenthal – a presenter at PAII’s 2015 Innkeeping Conference (“Understanding Google Places & Local Search) as he includes Google’s warning email text. This may help you separate a legitimate message from the tons of spam in your inbox! Full article: Google Says It May Unverify Inactive Local Business Listings.
Does this mean if you haven't touched your Google Local/Google Map/or whatever they're calling it this month that they'll consider your business as invalid? How many update the Google My Business page more than never?
I did it once to set it up years ago. Added some photos a few years back but I am completely unable to get rid of all the old photos so I don't even bother keeping photos up to date any longer. There's no sense adding all new room photos when they are bumped to the bottom of the list and are probably never seen.

As Google (search) places a high value on updates to web pages, I would imagine this may apply to Google maps and business pages. It also may apply to any other business page out there from other Yah oo or A mazon or Yel p or TA types.
Never hurts to log in occasionally and make a few tweaks, I guess.

think they have tweeked it so its better and easier - I havnt been on for a year but have new photo's and have bought new furniture and wanted them on - was very easy to add and delete.

I go onto mine. When I do a post, I start it out with a link to my website. This post will be shown on your G+ listing when guests are doing a search of your name. Go ahead and just a text post, start it with your url and post anything. Post a link to a blog post. They're saying if you don't use it within 6 months, you may be unvalidated.
Google will give your business a better rating (higher in the organic listings) than the business that doesn't do it. Same with google reviews. It just gives you more weight in googleville.

I still can't get G+ set up. I have 3 different G+ accounts. No idea how to get rid of them to start over.

Who's listed as owner or manager? Try going to your google plus page, pull down the menu at the left, choose "pages" and see if it says "managed this page".

found my answer, sorry to bother you

On some of them it's me, on one other is some random email address and name. I called about it ages ago and they said anyone can set up a page with your business name. They said they would send an email to that address and ask them to release the page to me.
Well, now I have 3 pages and I can't add my website info to link everything together so I just forgot the whole thing. They wanted it to be like Facebook but it's impossible to use. Plus, right in what they call the home page it pushes the reader to booking. Com instead of allowing guests to go to my website. Why would I promote that?
I got 3 reviews on there one of which is just a string of words. It would be nice if G+ worked but it doesn't.
