Happy Independence Day to my compatriots in the States. I am ironically celebrating by sipping on some delicious Tim Horton's dark roast coffee brought to us by our lovely Canadian guests for the week. We've made it past the full moon, we're almost past the holiday, for many of us we are hitting the half way point of our loooong season, and we personally have a house full of amazing repeat guests who make our job joyful…at this moment life is good! Have a great day.

We're also celebrating the opening today of vine-ripened tomato season! BLT's!

We had two Mounties in our parade today. Gomez cheered and yelled, "Go Canada!" He was quite excited, "Hey, look Mounties!" They smiled but were very official and didn't turn to wave.

We have nothing until tomorrow (unless the phone rings) so we are going to go pivk up Himself's latest painting that was used for the motorcycle event promotion. He needs to get it back in a frame. While we are up there (75 miles from the house) we are going to check out the hotel near the event. We have decided to stay there this year rather than go back & forth for 4 days, I am getting a vacation!
Traffic should be light today as people are already wherever they were going. 20 years ago today, I was riding my 1985 Honda Shadow 1100 from Carpentersville, Illinois to Shinnston, West Virginia. I was following the moving plan to bring my bike home. Within 5 years I was so busy I did not have time to ride so my son got his wish and bought it.
Update: It is a 30 room resort. The maid let Himself see the room and he said it es very nice - first floor and assigned to us already. I thought our friend the event owner had put it on his credit card and I was going to change it to mine. The clerk looked it up - COMP. He reserves the entire place for this event so I guess they gave him a room. It is for Thursday & Friday. I am going to call to see if I can extend to cover Saturday on my dime.
We got the painting, stopped at a book store, had dinner at OG (told Himself it was his birthday dinner a month early as I am out of town ON his birthday), stopped at a grocery for things I can only get there, and got home in only the second inning of his Cub game. A fun date day.
