I'm now sleeping with the fan on so I don't hear the phone. Good morning!

I no longer keep my business phone near my bedroom. This was one of the best decisions this group gave me.
All my relatives and close friends have my cell # and any guest in-house can reach me via the enter house phone line.
All others can wait til morning.
But isn't it against the law to call during those hours? Typing that I nearly choked on my coffee...

And since when has being against the law "had anything to do with the price of beer' as my Mom always said. The LAW only means something to honest citizens, not the cesspool of scam, spam, and telemarketing.c

We've been getting those 2 ring hang up calls at all hours. I'll get up and see I 'missed' 3 calls. It used to be one of them was my 'wake up' call as the phone rang everyday at the same time.
Of course none of the phone numbers are real, they don't actually belong to whomever is calling. And they can't be stopped if they can't be traced. I'm just waiting for the nomorobo app to work here.

Somehow I knew I would get you stirred up over that statement.

Love nomorobo...working like a charm on 3-4 calls a day. Some still get through but the caller ID is a dead giveaway by only giving the location.
Our life is so much quieter without the phone ringing, answer machine pick up and subsequent hangup. Now the phone rings once, nomorobo picks up and that is the end of it.
Doesn't your phone company support it? Who do you use?

We have this company that keeps on calling claiming to be Marriott, West Jet, Radisson, etc. The caller ID always starts with the same 6 digits as our telephone number. I now actually push 1 and answer their questions to waste their time because it seems to be the only way for them to understand to put you on a DNC list. We can tell it's them because they always spoof a local number.
I'm trying to take it up with the local phone company, that calls from spoofed numbers that originate outside of the local area, should be automatically refused.

some companies support it. Listed on their website, but some here said not necessarily work for them...
Who do you use, SS?
I plan to use that list to influence who I use for phone service. once started...

I checked the nomorobo website and we're not covered.

Here's what worked REALLY well for us the last few times.
"Jeff (or whatever the telemarketer said their name was), I need to hear you confirm that you are hearing me say that I want you and your company to remove us from your calling list."
The last three times we received telemarketer calls we got 1) an apology and a yes ma'am 2) CLICK (hung up on us!). 3) more of a spiel, to which I repeated what I said and then got told it would be done.
dont know if it will remove us or not, but it gets them off the phone pdq!

Generally, as soon as they hear anything that resembles 'remove...' they hang up so they don't have to remove your number.
Because almost all of them are untraceable they don't care.
I think this may be one of the worst stressors of answering the phone.

We have com cast for phone, internet and TV. But I think any company that supports call forwarding should work with nomorobo since all you are doing is having the call forwarded to their computer which disconnects after one ring if it is a known robo caller. That is why the call rings once on your line and then is disconnected. There is not even time for the caller ID to come up....just "incoming call" on the ID screen and blessed silence.

Still not available. I just checked. They don't support 'traditional landlines'.

My phone is over Internet (Suddenlink) but it's not on norobo's supported list. I tried to add it but they say no. They'll e-mail me if/when it becomes available.

I have two landlines but use Vonage for long-distance via VOIP. I was able to list my Vonage lines with nomorobo, but not the land-lines. Hopefully it will cut down on the number of teleweasel calls, but with the land-lines unprotected I'm sure I'll get some.
Apparently on nomorobo, you get one ring, which forwards to their service. If it's a known teleweasel, you never hear the second ring.
Will know if it's working if I get any of these one-ring calls.
