Wondering what to do when all these spam emails come through -- many are from the contact form on the website. If I mark them as SPAM, won't that show that future emails that come through on the contact form as spam?
Then there are others coming directly to the office email. There are so many and various ... subjects are ... Rejected, This email box is not monitored, Mail delivery failed, Mail being delivered to sender, Undeliverable ... some look like they are trying to trick the receiver (me) into opening one thinking it's something I sent. I've marked all those as spam.
I sometimes get one - once a week - but never like this!

Get rid of email links on the website and use a contact form that has a captcha code with it. Or, just unlink your email address so they can't click on it to send spam. They will have to copy and paste it.

I used to get a lot of those 'undelivered' return emails when my email was hijacked.
Can you look at the header for these emails? The part that has the coding in it? If you can, check to see if the undelivered ones have your email as the original sender. Or as the 'reply to' address.
If that's the case, someone is using your email address in their spam. They don't care about the undelivered mail because it's generally the link in the email that they want the receiver to click on. But you'll get the undelivered mail.

To answer the other question - you need to know what email address you're blocking before you block it. You might be blocking your own if it's in the reply to field.

I admit I'm overwhelmed with them today. ... i'm hovering over the emails without opening to check the senders. Seriously bummed ... we get inquiries all the time from random people, groups and places so I can't just chuck them all out.
You're right emptynest, but the folks I work for keep putting their email out there in other places and want it shown ... someone is having fun today.

It can be shown, just do not use the MAILTO: code to create a link. Then they at least have to copy and paste it.

Most spam is obvious. Is your mail going thru a spam filter?

I just checked my personal email and have had 129 spam messages appear in the last 2 days. I usually get about 1-5 a week at that addie.
