Do you take your guests' homes into consideration when planning your menu?
We have found (anecdotally, not scientifically) that Europeans tend to eat more yogurt, fruit and cereal and Americans go more for the eggs and bacon.
Any other observations? Do you even think that way?

The short answer is no. The long answer is when Euros are coming we make sure we have a lot of bread on hand for toast. Raisin Bran. Granola. Yogurt. They can pretty much come up with something to make a full meal from that.
But, you just never know. So we always ask if they want the regular breakfast.

Definitely speaks to the well stocked kitchen. GF flour, the things you mentioned, a variety of spices, cereals, nuts/seeds, yogurts, fruit, etc. always available...

We stock GF oatmeal in individual packets and GF granola bars. Other than that, if you are avoiding G, eggs, bacon, yogurt, fruit, raisins, coconut, walnuts and GF Special K. That should be enough for anyone. Avoid the pancakes. :)

Nope. There are here to try what we do, not to have the same old thing all over again. If they want that... they should never have travelled.

Those GF oatmeal packs are a life saver! Glad someone mentioned them here. My allergic to eggs crowd is in heaven. They asked for oatmeal. Help yourself!

I like to make stove top oatmeal and serve it in a crock pot in the winter. DH doesn't like the idea. Anyone use this? I feel like it's something they wouldn't do for themselves. We surround it with brown sugar, cinnamon, coconut, raisins, nuts and cut fruit.

Too much work. They are happy with the packets and the selection of flavours or DIY add-ons. I don't sell much cereal, so the packets are there.

We sell a lot of cereal. I'm always surprised at how many people actually eat Fruit Loops!

Not sure about the crock pot oatmeal. But, on a cold, winter day, if it didn't look overdone, I'd give it a try. Especially with the toppings you put out.

I give bags of Apple Jacks to the food shelf. They can use them for their morning coffee or put them out for the taking. But no one eats them here and there are a ton of them in every big mixed box.

I've found that having a similar variety works for more than just different cultures but different eaters of the same culture. Heck - different eaters of the same family, even.

No variations except for dietary needs. I do offer heated milk for coffee to some Europeans.

Try not to, but I always nail them when staying at a hotel. I also really love the beeping waffle makers. Love fresh waffles. Of course, they offer crap syrup, not maple...

No.
I always had yogurt and granola on hand but would assume nothing.
The times I thought they'd probably like this type of breakfast or that they were itching to try good old New England fare. I served what I served. Always.
I went to Scotland and had their giant breakfasts with beans and sausage. Same thing in Italy. Refused in Italy to go to a D unkin D with those who were dying for 'american coffee'. For me I wanted to experience it all including the food and drink (even if I didn't like it!)

We don't alter the breakfast but do notice that the europeans like less sweet dishes than Americans. Recently had Germans for a week and the wife asked for fried eggs and bacon every morning with toast. She doesn't eat anything sweet dishes - this request came after a morning with french toast. Europeans always as for toast as well if it's not on the plate. I've even had them ask for toast with their French Toast.

Nope, same breakfasts that would normally serve. That's also what I would expect if I were traveling to another country.

I find some of the pushier Euros (of course I get them!) play the 'fat Americans' card. "Oh, we don't eat that. You make too much food here and it's so full of calories. We'll just have..."
Mostly it's toast. They only want toast, which is easy. Or cereal. Again easy.

We do not take their home into consideration. We are locally sourced and our branding makes it clear that when they visit us, they will be eating what we get here as much as it is available. While it is not unusual to want a home favorite after a few weeks on the road, there are restaurants to scratch that itch. I do think that with a buffet style, you have to accommodate customs more.

I posted a Crock Pot Cereal in the recipes that is excellent - and can be served to Vegans. It calls for 7 grain cereal but I have used 5 grain and 10 grain. It is really easy to put together and just cooks all night. I serve it with brown sugar and/or (their choice) male syrup on the side.
