Well, we hit an all-time low. Someone is trying to reserve via an OTA and then pay with third-party gift certificates. Yes, that's right.... they think I'm willing to accept to pay TWO sets of commission. NOPE. Not happening. Just not happening.

guest has a gift certificate. good. you've already been paid for the room.
how can they book through an on line without a credit card?
confused.
I honestly only understand about half what is written here. y'all talk in code sometimes.
But interested in how a person can make a reservation on line without a cc.

In this situation they book via say Book ,com - then put in the comments they want to Pay with X voucher card as they can see you take them.

They may have asked to pay on arrival using this gc. Not all the OTA's collect the money, even tho they ask for your credit card.
Just the idea that someone would use a booking system, not the booking system on the site that sells the gc, either, and then expect to pay with the other company's gc is weird.

They booked with one OTA and asked to pay with another OTA's gift card... YUP.
It's like trying to pay your Target bill with a Walmart gift card.
 
My GC's say you have to CALL to reserve your room. I don't allow guests to use online booking (even my own) to cash in gift certificates. I want to know who they are, make sure their certificate is valid, and make sure I can wow them to the point that they'll come back every year.

People don't always know what they're doing. Just tell them the method they need to use and I am sure they will get it and correct it so it works for everyone. Oh the drama.

Interesting! But they found a better price on this OTA than that one..... Those types keep life interesting for us and give us something to talk about!
 
Or they think they ARE on Charlie's website. i have been told that when someone used an OTA. They don't read. Surprise! Like we didn't already know that!

Same here from long time repeat guests. Rather than call they decided to book online. Of course, booking comes up on top with a search for us. They thought we just moved our reservations to that site.
 
Turned out to be a lovely couple and explained about booking and the certificates. Just not well travelled. So I gave them a post card to a lovely place just 6 hours west of here... for another innkeeper on here :)
