So I thought that I would check out the Google Analytics of our website traffic. I looked at the section where it tells you what site people visit before they click to your site, figuring it was Google, TripAdvisor, etc. But I found that a large number of people get to my site through our city website! I didn't even know we had one. So I checked it and sure enough all the information on there is incorrect. The website address is old, but I have it redirected.
I'm glad I checked that. I will definitely make that a part of my regular website traffic check routine.

I get hits daily coming from our local chamber of commerce site and the state parks & tourism website. I would never go to a chamber page to look for lodging, but apparently more than a few people do!

Our chamber is also our visitor center so ours is the only place for Tourists to get info. Other town sites have some listing but most are not up to date. I recently updated this site for our downtown business(It is not extensive...I don't have any more time to give to it right now....Also created the new walking map for our businesses on Main Street because merchants made this a top priority so I made it happen quickly thanks to a good committee.

That's awesome. Insights like that are key. If that is the site where the majority of your traffic comes from you may want to tweak your homepage a little to make it more relevant to the message that brought them there.
Something in that description on Mountain View's site is causing people to click over to you. Reinforcing it could help smooth the booking process. They mention a few things so it might help to reinforce each through bullet points.

YES! Exactly. I actually changed a couple of pictures on my home page just for that reason. Good advice.

You might want to set up a Google Alert for yourself. Let Google keep its digital eyes peeled for mentions. Then you can follow up and make sure the information is right.
Traffic from a local source like a city resource might be better served by providing them a specific landing page. You can build a page focused on those people and ask for your link to point to that page instead of the home page.

Ah, ok. That's a good idea. Interesting...
