For the second time in almost 20 years, I did a self check-in last night.
The first one, if recall, was the man voming for his Mother's funeral when I was going to be at my High School Reunion. Told him, "I will see you in the morning."
Yesterday was "one of those DAYS". I spent the first part of the morning catching up from being out of the office all day and making peach cobbler for a dessert and meatballs for spaghetti, then the interview crew was an hour late, fortunately the Librarian did NOT put the knitting class in the paper (I called & no one was there), then made the salad & spaghetti and a store run for bread & butter. Just as I was about to take the dinner over to City Hall for the Bluegrass Band (Glenville State has a Bluegrass Major and they were playing at Frontier Days last night & I always provide the supper) the phone rang for a rez - tonight. Got all his info, told him I was just about to leave for a Board meeting, there will be a parking place at City Hall 1/2 block away for you, and I will be back about 9. That was fine, he wanted to take a run and I told him how to get to the rail-trail.
When I got to City Hall, they had a "sandwich board" with reserved written on it. So I called the guest, told him it was not a cone BUT I had left the front door unlocked, where his room was and where his bathroom was. Got home and he was happy as heck. (He even left a tip this morning.)

Good for you. Being flexible has really made my life better. Guests are happier as well.

Himself was not happy when he found out - but that was not until we were home and guest was in-house so he could not explode.
The Band liked the salad, spaghetti & meatballs, and accounted for more than half the cobbler (made a 9x13 to be sure to have enough for 7).

I get a lot of late arrivals from the airport and have left the key for repeat guests (mostly business) many times with good results. Guests like it since they don't have me waiting up for them paired with their need for a 7am breakfast!
