We don't normally do "little treats" in the afternoon, but well, the city is doing some work and we want to spoil our guests a little bit. So I'm looking at ideas of little treats that I can leave in the room, wrapped. So that basically excludes cakes and cupcakes.
So far on my list I have fudge, chocolate bark and brittle. Any other ideas of things that can be individually wrapped and left in the room? I'm thinking that I might make variations on Toasted Rice squares, with something more interesting, like Boo Berry cereal mixed in. Any ideas?

When I leave treats (cookies) in the room, I put the cookies on a paper doily on the plate-[ yes here there be doilies!] - then cover the plate with cling film.

I'm definitely going to individually wrap. My plates are real china, they don't leave the dining room. But I'm looking for individual things that I can wrap for guests. Cookies may be good, but I would prefer cookies that don't crumb.

And cupcakes won't crumb??? Yummy Chocolate Chunk Cookies..soft kind, or some of your macaroons.

You might hate this idea but here goes ... I baked treats all the time. Pies, cookies and banana bread. They were set out in the guest library for the taking.
But in the room I put chocolate kisses. I had little bowls that were weird plastic that looks like metal. THOSE got raves ... more than my homebakes

I paid a small fortune for chocolate covered blueberries that I bagged up and put little ribbons and thank you notes on. meh ... no comments. But plain old chocolate kisses won the day.
Never had a problem with chocolate on the linens by the way.

I have a small/medium-size bowl of kisses on eacvh dresser - never thought of that as a treat because I have always done it. I also have reed baskets I made on the dresser or mantle with 2 bananas and 3 or 4 apples and if I have bought them, I add a pkg of nuts, goldfish, and peanut butter cheese crackers.

Ps. I luv fudge.

. Yes Kathleen there I was baking and making and they enjoyed those things but loved the simple kisses. I guess not everyone likes chocolate covered blueberries so. $$ lesson learned. And a treat In Room seems to leave a lasting impression

We sell the macaron... we actually thought of putting just ONE out and making them fight over who gets it, or if they share :)
I have a recipe for cashew and bacon brittle that I want to try. Cupcakes will crumb and they can't be individually packed, which is why they are out. I could make some home made truffles. Do you think people would like toasted rice squares made to look like sushi or would they think it's really sushi? Or maybe too cute to eat. How about homemade marshmallows in flavours? How about some local chocolate bars, since they are available in smaller versions at the moment. Do you think they would like that?

Hershey's brand is not very popular around here and hard to get. And some of their brands are a little different here... like Reese peanut butter cups... notice the name difference?
Just out of curiousity, how many does the average guest take? Ever have people that empty the dish? Or do you just put a specific amount in there each day?

truffles would make me happy! nix on sushi look alikes

Just went to WallyWorld's website to compare costs of kisses....
12 oz for $3.54 (60 kisses or $0.059 per)
Here...
7 oz for $2.99 (35 kisses or $0.085 per)
(There are about 5 kisses in 1oz)
Oh... just found out that they are using a different formulation here, richer and creamier. Maybe that accounts for the difference in price.)

I just fill it up on arrival when I put the fruit in the room. No re-fill. Sometimes it is empty, sometimes untouched. Same for fruit. I have also used individually wrapped Dove hearts or other wrapped chocolates when they are on sale. Have been getting large-size bag of kisses at Wally's brother's place. (I also use a kiss in the middle with muffins instead if chips. works well - dab of batter, kiss, batter over it.)

LOCAL chocolate sounds great. Looked through receipts (trust me that is an event of friendship) and just found kisses - a 56 oz bag was $12.38. I have no clue how many in that bag. It lasts for a while because I do not have a revolving door of guests like you do. Use small dish - like custard cup.

I set out a container of individually wrapped chocolate dipped biscotti. Some folks love them! I buy a large container of them at B jays...the big box store. 25 cookies for about $11.
I usually bake goodies for an afternoon treat, but the biscotti are out all day so I never feel guilty if I don't get around to baking.

I just put 6 or 8 kisses in a little dish in each room in a prominent place. Always gone in the morning. Sometimes wrappers in the trash, sometimes kisses went away with them. I think it was the small size, neatly wrapped that was appealing. And if you've got a yummy local chocolate I'd offer it.

Well, we started giving treats only to stay-over guests, in their room, during turn-overs. Not sure how long, since this is a trial.
One night we gave them chocolate bark, another was fudge, another was Voortman cookies and today I'm trying a cereal treat. Trying to keep them small and different for the moment. Individually wrapped. On my list of things to make include brittle and I found a recipe for oreo popcorn that I may try. And I thought that I might buy thing "wafer" cookies and put my own fillings to make them special... the leftover filling from making macaron.

I don't know what voortman taste like, but I would see this in my room and think it was a joke. Sorry. I gave my guest luscious treats like brownies and choc. chip cookies, cheesecake etc. that is what impresses guests.
