Just noticed that Christmas and New Year are on Fridays this year so we are looking at three or maybe four day weekends. So market it up or block it out! Not to mention Columbus Day and Thanksgiving.

We used to get a big turnout for NYE. Now it's a waste to be open. Last year we closed right after Christmas. Our first and second NYE were packed.
What kinds of ideas do you have? No alcohol. We can't offer toasts (altho we have just popped a bottle and left it out for guests to find).

We will be closed CEve & CDay but always have a sold out NYE. Expect a good NYE weekend also.

What do you offer that sells the place out? You'd think with everything going on here we could do the same!

Closed closed closed. We want the quiet time and don't want the hassle. We have a festive boat lighting that occurs in the next village for a few weeks before then and we get bookings for that right up to the Christmas holiday. That's all I'll need.

You could use sparking grape juice or cider if you want to do a toast. (or a homemade punch) Buy party favors at the dollar store...Invite people to bring their instruments and have a play along to welcome in the new year....game night, puzzles, popcorn.... Does your town have a big event? Splash it across your website, blog, Facebook, etc......

Do you still have fireworks up there on New Year's Eve?
How about a snack basket to take and offer a later brunch on New Year's day?
Can you bring in a meal to serve for dinner or no?
I'd put up a link on your site to New Year's Eve ... use that gorgeous picture of your place in the snow. Make a big deal of the fireplace in your living room and of your fireplace rooms. A video of the fire and fireworks?

Nothing! We can't even offer our usual dinner package because they do a special menu at a higher price. Maybe our room prices are a good value comparatively? $195/$175/$155. Or maybe cause all the other BBs shut down for the season? Only the big box inns are the alternative... and we're quiet and cozy. We do seem to get the NYE quiet cozy folks. I also start plugging reservations on the front page right after Turkey Day.

We get a lot of reservations that usually arrive on the 26th, so no point in forcing the 3 day thing, since the 26th is also a holiday here. We get a few people who stay for the 24th and 25th to visit family and leave. We'll leave it as 2 days.

Those are my favorite when you are full the whole weekend but people coming and going on different days so its not a whole house change over at the same time.

Fireworks are at 6pm. It's a kid's day fest rather than adult oriented.
No meals but we could do a brunch instead of breakfast.
We did a package with a restaurant our first two years but that hasn't worked for awhile because I couldn't get seating when guests wanted it.
I'll check what everyone else is doing.

Christmas has been a dud for the last couple years. We use to get people coming in to visit family. Now we usually get people who live in big city with no family to visit, making the time to 'just be' with their loved one.
NYE became an eye opener for me. No big romantic getaways like I thought. We get college football fans coming in for one of the big games. The downside is that the window to know who will be playing is small. I have a 30 day cancel to discourage place saving.

Yaaaaayyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!
That is for me, the office worker. I'll worry about the inn later! Thanks for the good news!!!!
