OK peeps, what kind of tablet gadget should I get? I've had my Nexus for 4 years but I'm pretty sure I've killed it. It starts randomly, charges when it feels like it and has been really slowing down lately. I don't want anything with Windows loaded on it. What other options are there? What do you have that you like that can do everything the busy innkeeper needs to do while traveling?

Go for an ipad..can't go wrong with it. I have Samsung Galaxy and it has been great. Never a problem and the new ones are much lighter. But still wish I had an ipad.

Love my iPad. Himself who is basically not gone beyond the early 1800s (he HAS progressed to a flip phone) also likes the iPad - it is in his area as much as mine. I e-mail photos to the iPad and he uses that for references for his paintings. I regularly hear loud bursts of frustration when it goes to sleep or something pops up and have to go in and "fix" the problem. He has used it for the last 3 paintings.

I too have a Nexus, but the 7". The 9" is still available from Google. There is a new one coming out soon. And Amazon has a few cheapies, including one for $50.
Sorry, not an Apple person. I can't afford the premium.
If you have your tablet set to backup then when you connect your new one on you google account you should be able to bring back photos and such.

Why do you wish you had an iPad?
I'm leaning that way except my brother has one and I was trying to watch some music videos and they loaded about a half hour after I thought I must have done something wrong! It was so slow.
It would take a lot of relearning as it doesn't seem to work intuitively for me.

I have the 7" one too.
All I really have on it are games. It doesn't take good photos unless all you want are selfies.
Are you having any problems? I guess I can change out the charger insert which might help with the charging problem. Which might help with the random booting problem.

Do you have the older version or the younger version? Because my USB charger port isn't in great shape, so I use a QI charger instead. Somehow the 7" size just sits better in the hands than larger ones.

I got the Kindle Fire first because all I expected to do with it was read books and check e-mail. Then I had to get the iPhone for Square (my phone was needing replaced anyway). THEN I saw what cold be done with the iPad on the Road Trip. and bought one during a lunch stop the first day out. Have not been sorry. I have the big one. Have used it to take photos, send photos. It IS a bit big........

I have and like very much a first gen iPad. Useless for photos, but great for reading (including this site right now) plus watching Netflix while on extended kitchen duty. I can also update Reskey while doing breakfast prep. I also use it to run credit cards via square. The $29 chip reader works fine. I will need a newer iPad for the Square ApplePay edition.
What is a bit frustrating is that it does not like sites using flash, and that is still a lot of sites.
So far it still accepts the latest IOS editions, so I'll hang onto it at least a bit longer.

I can't figure out which one i have! But I don't think that charger works. You have to have the charging port on the back right?
How can I figure out which version I have anyway?

Flash is going the way of the dodo bird. It doesn't work on the Nexus either.

There may be lots of sites with FLASH...I rarely see one these days....but they will be gone as no one uses it anymore...really.

I don't have one, but I vote for the iPad, bought a small laptop with Windows 8, it sits on the shelf and I use an older laptop.
Joined daughter's cell plan last spring and got an iPhone, I love it, iPad is on my list

On the back, hold the tablet in portrait format. If you can read the Nexus sideways, it's the newer model. In that case the QI is built-in, you can just get the charger. I bought on ebay from China, but that takes 30 days, so look on Amazon. Rather cheap. You plug the cable into that and then put the tablet on top to charge.

Incidentally, the Nexus tablet is what I use to make those photospheres of the rooms. :)

I just bought a Surface Pro 4 (Microsoft). It's a full Windows computer, but the thin, featherweight lighted keyboard is only attached by a magnet, so snap off the keyboard and it becomes a regular touchscreen tablet. I love it. It's a tablet, laptop, and desktop all in one, so everything I have and need is on this one device (I also have an iPhone in my pocket).
When I have real work to do, I go to the desk, snap on the keyboard, plug in my big monitor and mouse and it's a regular Windows desktop that will do anything any other Windows desktop can do.
Or I can carry it to my easy chair and it's a regular laptop, with both a touch pad on the keyboard and a touch screen for quick scrolling.
Or I can snap off the keyboard and use it as a tablet as thin, light and big as an iPad.

My aunt has an iPad and she does everything on it, even watching movies. She has the older version but it works fine. Go iPad!
