Came home at noon to find my way to the house blocked by water! Neighbor moved the cars, and the house and apartment are well above the flood levels. Our neighbor gave me a canoe ride to my steps so I didn't even have to get my feet wet! Just heard from the guests for today. They're up for the adventure.
Diva - thinking of you and hoping you're OK

Diva's middle names are Molly and Brown, and she's unsinkable...we hope!

Glad you're above the flood stage Skamo! We doing ok, but our surrounding area is really flooded. We're still getting more rain.

You see that little yellowish building with the blue turquoise roof? The major road #101 runs right in front of it.

My nearest town.
Our creek next to our cottage became scary high, but so far so good.

Holy Crow, that is a lot of water. You had such a dry summer, too, didn't you.? I grew up in Kent, (Wa.) and every year the whole bottom land flooded. We had fun playing in it though. Our Farmhouse was up the hill.

Visited DH in Portland yesterday. Couldn't get home via I-5 or Hwy 30, both blocked. Had to drive 26 to Seaside then north. I came home to the high tide flood. Down now. When guests get here I'll help them unload then show them where to park their cars. We'll have high tide floods for a couple of days I'm guessing.

I was thinking of the creek. Looks so luscious from the bedroom.

Yes, both a dry winter and summer. We're supposedly in a drought. It's the snow pack we really need up in the mountains.
Our guests are all leaving early in the morning to try to make it out of here. I can breath a sigh of relief after their gone since we have a number of days with no guests. It's having guests during these extreme times that makes it stressful.

We had so much flooding this summer - I know how this feels! Dry thoughts are with you!

That looks as bad as our first year here. Had a thaw after a huge snow - a couple days in the 70s - and everything here flows north. First question I asked when we looked at this house is, where is the water. I grew up seeing the Ohio flood (we lived so high up, Noah would need the ark before we were flooded) so knew to look. The low spot where the creek & run come into the river is 3 blocks from our house. The river channel is 1 block away and probably 30 feet or more deep - winter of 1995, it almost spilled the bank. Pittsburgh had barges in the 4th level of a parking garage (my river flows to Pittsburgh).
I hope the water recedes quickly. I know how devastating it is - and it looks like your area has been hit hard. May your house stay dry. Wish I could do more than wish you to stay dry.

Long termers arrived today. They seem game. Dry wishes going your way and fingers crossed.

Our friends who rented cottages by a river here got flooding every year that blocked the roads for a while, keeping people from getting in or out. They were thinking of taking an ad on Facebook: Come to our place and stay. And stay. And stay.
