Altho it's actually the satellite guy. He called to say he was on his way, bringing our upgraded box. Um. No. You're coming to install new boxes for new hookups for new TVs.
He was told, he says, that this was just a box replacement and he doesn't have the correct parts to install a whole new connection but he'll go get them (in a town 30 minutes away from here) .
So, our noon install is halfway done at 4:30 and we haven't had a chance to ask him about doing the rest of the building.
At least he called from the road rather than getting all the way here.

Oh, how familiar that story is to me.

Sounds like us trying to get the fried TV repaired last year. After 2 months of waiting for they finally agreed to a new TV. The repairman was wonderful - the parts NEVER came.

I feel badly now. He's still here. Gomez doesn't think he was ready to take on this kind of job. He may have enough training to change out the box but installing a new system seems beyond his abilities.
He's still here. He can't get a signal on the new TVs. That's 5 hours now.

We had a similar problem - think it was 4 years ago when everything was going digital - we had super old ariels which needed replacing so we decided to do it all when we were doing the roof so the tv people could take advantage of the scaffolding ie 241 - so we booked it about 6 months in advance. HOwever whole country was going over to digital 2 months later so by then it was a zoo for the ariel people and they were vastly over stretched. Were supposed to send 2 guys but could only spare 1 who bless kept trying to vacume up after himself and stuff - Im like let me and the chamber maid do that you get on with the fricking TV's! was told 3-4 hours took 8. Vastly improved system mind!

We're getting ready to break our cable TV addiction. With HBO Now available for streaming (cheaper than what I pay through the cable provider btw), we're cutting the cord. I watch Netflix and Hulu (which added a Showtime option), and some cable news. We have to pay for faster Internet since it's required by my dh's job when he has to work at home. So.... We'll save over $50/month even with the streaming services.
I think if I had the B&B now, I might have "smart" TVs in the rooms and stream, plus the DVD library.

We certainly looked at that but the internet speeds here are pathetic unless you have cable. We have trouble streaming music much less video.
