Anyone do an area-specific gift basket for guests? What do you include and what do you think is a good price point? Right now my gift basket is $60 but because 50% of that is a gift card it looks really skimpy. I'd like to take out the GC and add some other food items. And actually make some money. Right now it's at cost.
It doesn't get sold very often, possibly because of the breakables. It has sold to guests who are driving, but not flying. Which is ok as it's not making me any money at present!
(I have given it as a thank you to a guest who books 3 rooms for 3 nights every year. They loved it. So it has potential, just not at the price.)

Small container of maple syrup, locally made soap. small package of tea from your local tea room and coffee from the local roaster. Does Maine Made have anything reasonably priced? A skein of North Island wool & knitting needles. A box of chocolates made there. Something from the wood shop at Thomaston. A jar of local jelly or honey. Something from a local potter. One or 2 of your Inn mugs. A coupon for a discount at the place that sells Maine made shoes. Have I thought of anything you have not already thought of?

The coffee. I forgot the coffee!

How about some sea salt? Lighthouse pin/earrings?
BTW - that i North Haven Island, not North Island. I got a gorgeous sweater there in 1987 that I am still wearing. They use wool from the sheep on the island.

Sea salt is good, too.
Wool from around here would double the price of the basket. ;-)

Don't forget the WHOOPIE PIES! I make my own but they're relatively inexpensive to buy ... give them the big ones. :)

Yup, they're in there. With moxie. We cannot give that stuff away! We had a 12 pack we put in the fridge. If Gomez hasn't finished it off it's still there.
I might try providing that this year as a drink item. In the small cans so they fit better in the fridge. No one will go out and buy it but they might try a small can.
