First day on the job in 6 weeks. Doorbell just rang. Early arrival. Welcome back!
Gomez is still scrubbing bathrooms.
 
Us too. We have an early check in for "between 12 and 3." Huh????That's the whole day in innkeeper-land.

See, this sort of 'hang up out to dry' thing needs a charge added to it. 'Yes, we'll be happy to be available for 3 hours, at your convenience, for $50.'

Two of our rooms are now late arrivals. I am was doing chocolate covered strawberries on arrival. These 2 will get theirs tomorrow instead. All rooms are decorated with balloons and chocolates shaped into hearts on the bed. And the phone ringing off the hook wanting rooms for tomorrow night and begging us for ideas of where they might find a romantic place since we are booked.

I know. I was surprised he agreed to it. Should have said that he'd be available at 2. But easier to bend when you've had a couple weeks off.
We also have a late check in. That makes more sense. It's Friday and people need to finish work before they get on the road.
Balloons? Wonderful idea. We have candy and splits of sparkling beverage.

One guest told us that they will get here at a certain time. Showed up two hours early. "There was no traffic jams in CT at all!!!!!!"

Last week I asked a guest what time they'd be arriving because they had left it blank. Explained my son had a local basketball game and he was starting varsity so I wanted to see if they'd be here so I could run up and watch it. They emailed back saying they'd be here between 4-7 but could not narrow it down anymore than that. Really, being only 2 1/2 hours away you couldn't narrow it down more than a 3 hour window. Wound up they got here at the end of that 3 hour windows and I ran up to watch the game, but I could have gone and seen my daughter's earlier game had they let me know. People are clueless that we have a life -- can't wait for retirement in 4-5 years so I live my life on my schedule, not everyone else's.

That's just as bad as sending a check not signed! Waiting for our eleven o'clock check in....
 
Last nights self check ins never came down for breakfast. We are pretty sure the arrived as there is an unfamiliar car in our driveway.

They missed a good one too. Individual fruit cups in martini glasses with heart shaped strawberries, egg baskets and French toast. We left the red velvet muffins out in case they come to.

My eyelids made me stop waiting. Heard them come in at 1am, I am sure the whole house heard them come in! Got it all squared away this am.

'between 4-7' does not tell us anything! And I agree, these guests have no idea that we might actually have something else TO do or WANT to do. I hate Fridays!
 
Late arrivals last night - 1am
Today the opposite......
11:15, just barely missed the guests from last night (same room) as they pulled out of the drive.
Bed still warm, def. not clean!
I pointed to a few things to do and where to get a bite... See you at 3!!!
They were back at 2:20. Sigh!
 
I'm just glad everyone made it. Last night asked for another night. No prob! Love you!!
Can we order a meal? No prob! Love you again!
Last two rooms made it during the storm. Actually, the last room couldn't make it up our hill. A loving neighbour towed them to our driveway and they will stay at the end of it until DH plows them out tomorrow morning. Everyone has now eaten, my little black beauty has licked one room's crab shells clean, and we are doing the Beachie thing--wine, yum. Now just need to do my clean up and then do my prep for tomorrow. Everyone wants a later breakfast. Fine by me. Snowstorms bring out the best in people, don't you think?

Yippee!
I got a rez this afternoon for July - all 3 rooms for at least 3 nights and 1 room for an extra 2 nights. Asked for a $500 deposit to hold the rooms. Told him, being a small business, I do need some surety for whole house - and it is a 14-day cancel period.
