Garden tip of the day: Keep an old pair of kitchen tongs in your gardening bag for picking up things you would rather not touch,
like fallen, oozing tomatoes and stinging caterpillars.

Tip from Marie Iannotti on About.com Gardening

snagged this off Facebook where an innmate had shared it!
ps There was a dead something in the garden the other day. We have freezing then warm then freezing days and I went out to see what's what. I didn't want to leave the dead something there, didn't want to touch it ... not even with gloved hands (call me Whimpy) went and got a small shovel and pried if off the ground and moved it over to the overgrown area ... going to remember this kitchen tongs idea!

Thanks for sharing the idea. I use the shovel mostly.

DH used my kitchen tongs to pull a dry roasted squirrel out of our furnace in our house in upstate NY. After he recovered from the shock of finding when he opened it up to change the filter.
be sure to label the old tongs or keep them in a very separate place. It took some convincing to get DH that a run through the dishwasher wasn't enough for me to use them in the kitchen.

Muirford, hahahahahaha .... ewwwww ... nobody touches my gardening junk as they call it. But I'll label them. hahahahahahaha

Sounds like my kind of gardening if you need tongs! ha
I actually pulled up an earthworm yesterday, and was okay with it until it began to wreathe, and then I began the heave.
(Just kidding, but it was gross)

Koi fish LOVE earthworms. Toss it in the pond and watch the fish fight over it.
The grandkids used to hunt worms in order to toss them to the fish.
Now they just kill strangers on the internet. They were cute when they were young.
(OT much?)

I am sooo with you on that one!

worms! I remember going out at night with a flashlight with my cousins ... they were looking for night crawlers to go fishing the next day. Soon as I saw one getting pulled ... and pulled ... and pulled out of the big black dirt pile in the camp cellar I dropped the flashlight and ran. (They didn't invite me to go fishing either)

Good tip, SS!
I'm not that squeamish, but there have been some things in the garden that I didn't want to use gloves to pick up and my shovel was too awkward.
I will sacrifice some kitchen tongs gladly...

Nowadays, gardening is truly becoming an art form. I love doing gardening, it is my hobby to plan, planting and watching my own plants grow. Last month on the suggestion of my friend I had renovated my garden by decorating it with amazing outdoor lights and installed beautiful gravel colored stone at my driveway in Long Island, which had increased the curb appeal and intensified my home.

There are various gardening tips are present, which can help you to plant all types of gardens. Like using of Mulching has other benefits and it is one of the most recommended gardening tips by gardeners. Using of fertilizers is also a great way to have healthy plants. But when your plants get bigger and better, always check for the signs of pests on the plant. As exterminators in Suffolk County says that for plants always use the most environmentally-friendly service to prevent pest problems from developing.
