As is our usual practice, When I return from Chapel, I bring down the computer, lock up, and go to bed.
Last night, I locked the door as I went into the office to shut down for the night - it was 11:30. I was startled by the doorbell ringing with the thought, I hope it does not disturb the guests.
I did not notice anyone on the porch - they said they waved to me as I came up the street. They also said they had tapped on the window but I did not hear (ears are now plugged due to the epizoodic although coughing is less) as they wanted to invite me to join them. I had made a birthday cake for the lady with a birthday (different lady than last month) and they had taken the cake and a bottle of champagne onto the porch to enjoy. "It has been a long time since we could sit on the front porch in an evening," said one of the ladies as she apologized for ringing the bell. One of them heard me snap the lock button and realized I was locking up before going to bed.
So we chatted a bit, I took a piece of cake, and told them come in when you are ready - do not worry about the lock because the Police are just down the street.
Breakfast was at 9. We went over to the log house at 1:30 and I waved goodbye to them at 2:10. I think they enjoyed the visit.
