We've had a lot of visits to our site from save the date websites. It's nice to be added. However, this last one is telling guests who are staying only one night to 'ask about early check in' as the wedding is at 3.
I checked. We have two of their guests (based on location of guests and info about B&G). Neither of them asked for an early check in. Which would need to be around 1 to get dressed and get to the venue on time. (There's a bus service coming around at 2 to pick up the guests at the hotels.)
Please don't call me at noon on a Saturday to TELL me you need to check in early. This will not go well.
Now thinking of making that weekend a 2-night min to avoid any other one nighters for this wedding.

This is always a big problem for us. We have 2-night minimums for all summer weekends. Can't tell you how many wedding guests from nearby weddings want to show up and check into their room 3 hours early, so they only have to pay for 1 night.
I make it real clear. It's a 2-night minimum. For a $150 room, that's $300. You're welcome to pay the $300 and show up whenever you want Saturday. You can pay $300 and only stay one night. But you're paying for both days, bucko.

It's not a popular weekend here so I set it for single nights.
But, yes, no one wants to pay for the 2 nights if they live within 2 hours' drive. But they do want to check in at noon to take a shower. And this save the date sure it's telling them to do that.
I noticed that all the hotels where they blocked rooms are 2 night min. And a heck of a lot more expensive.

.
or do it but make sure you put on a charge to make it worth it - $80 or whatever for early check in charge

Grrr.
Had a call a week or so ago from a wedding planner. She asked if we ever had bridal party dress here for weddings.
I asked what she was looking for. "A place for the bridal party to come and 'hang out' for the day, get their hair/makeup done and dress, and be picked up by the limo. "
I said sure, there will be a 2 night minimum and the rental of ALL guest rooms. She said they only needed the 2 larger suites and one day. I said no, not here - 2 night min. and all guest rooms.
Still stinging over the last bride who used us. My eyes are WIDE open now.

Good for you! Stand your ground. Had a nice young man call to reserve the cottage for 3 nights, mentioning that he and his bride would be getting married that weekend. He was non-plussed when I mentioned that we do not allow unregistered guests to hang out with the bride and groom, due to insurance issues. He was certain it would be just him and his honey in the cottage. Small wedding, romantic spot....thinking romance, no doubt.
However, he called back within about 10 minutes. Apparently his bride had different ideas about how they should experience their wedding weekend. No problem. Cancelled the reservation and wished them well.
I breathed a sigh of relief. The last thing we want is for the wedding party to continue here. Even having the bride dress here, with the help of her closest 10 friends, is not an option for us. Nope. They will be much happier in a larger place where they can spread out and celebrate....NOT HERE!

Had one today book each room one by one online to get the $10 discount, and not fall under our 30 day cancel for more than 3 rooms booked. She could have done it with one click, vs 6 times entering all the info.
She did book two nights each, as we have a min stay that weekend, and I wonder what she says when I run the same credit card and hold every single one? I will do that tomorrow.
