Hi, well this is a first for me so I thought I would ask for help. We have a lovely young couple staying with us. I went in to fluff their room, makeup the bed and tidy up. I thought someone had died and was still in the bed. They had taken all of their belongings out and put them in the bedand covered them with the quilt. I straightened up around the bed but left it as is. Any thoughts ?

Our housekeeping rule is pretty simple: If you can't perform the task without touching a piece of property left in the room by the guest, don't do it. Clothes on the bed? Don't remake the bed. Razors lying on the sink? Don't clean the sink.
It makes it easy for staff to decide what they should and shouldn't do, and in cases where guests have misplaced their things, it's easy to say "our staff is NEVER allowed to touch personal belongings."

THanks, that is our usual rule also, it was just so odd to see a mountain in the middle of the bed!

People do weird things.
I was just thinking the other day as we have a one night flip on all rooms twice next weekend, + more. Exahusts me to even think about it. But then I thought how at least I don't have to go into their rooms and see their weirdness. That is the pay off to the one nighters, and all the extra work and less $.
The rainbow from the storm, the silver lining on the cloud.
At least they pay you to stay and if that is the oddest or worst problem, then you won.
