Made individual baked oatmeal cups, some with blueberries and some with strawberries. No takers. We only had two rooms to breakfast and we do put out a big spread (all buffet), but I was disappointed.
I brought the leftovers to my office. I'll see if I get more takers here.
Not ready to give up on them yet. I think they are a great make ahead 'carb' to use in between pancakes and French toast.
I did put a sign out so guests knew what they were. Next time I'll walk through saying, "I made homemade baked oatmeal, have you ever tried it?" Sometimes, the mention gets people curious.

Honestly, I am not sure what all the hoopla is about baked oatmeal. If I saw it sitting out at a buffet...I am not taking it

Funny, when we first bought, one of my gourmet friends said "I have a great baked oatmeal recipe" and I thought, Baked Oatmeal, NOT!. Then we started having longer stays and needed another sweet recipe, so we gave the Baked Oatmeal a try in the Texas Muffin cups with raisins and craisins. To make it more enticing and descriptive, we spread Orange Marmalade on the top when they are still warm. Yum! It's now our most requested recipe.
And today, we just happened to have a vegan, so we found a different recipe using Almond Milk and applesauce for the binder instead of eggs... still added the raisins & craisins and marmalade.
We introduce it as "Orange Glazed Baked Oatmeal with Raisins & Craisins"

Didn't think of glaze. Nice idea. Thanks. I did a basic recipe then added blueberries in half and strawberries in half.
I was thinking raisins made sense. I'll give the marmalade a try. Thanks.
What is a "Texas muffin cup?" Is that the large cupcake pan? I use those for the crustless quiche, so could try with the oatmeal.

.
I likened oatmeal to the "library paste" my Granny made. Baked Oatmeal is firm, not slimy. Mine has red raspberries, large blackberries, and blueberries on top and is served with vanilla Greek yogurt on the side. (For vegans I make it with water to replace the egg and milk and I always use unsweetened applesauce instead of butter)
I think it is partly because some people are actually trying to eat better and once they try it, find that it really is tasty On days I am serving baked oatmeal, it is eat it or go hungry so they try it - and like it.

Yes, the large cupcake pan. We have 2 that hold 6 each. We also use them for our Egg and Cheese Puff. Make a nice sized individual serving (that can be held in a warming drawer if necessary).

I do more of a 'crisp' in individual ramekins. Don't need a lot of berries, I don't make it sweet but it goes over great. Everyone asks for the recipe and when I tell them, they can't get over how simple but delicious it is. Easy to make and people feel like they're having dessert for breakfast. Smells good too.

is the recipe on this site?

I'm not a fan of oatmeal except my own ... my taste might be mushy to some
My advice ... change the name from baked oatmeal. I'd call it Morning Loblolly (something my grandfather used to say) and it's a fun word. Or Berry Loblolly.

:)
We have a room called the Loblolly Cove Room - named after cove in town. The movie, "The Love Letter," was filmed here and in the film, the town was called Loblolly.
To your point, I was thinking of naming them something else but wanted folks to know what they were. I was thinking of Orange glazed cinnamon raison cups. But that is more of a recipe than a name. LOL

oh that's interesting. What a coincidence, you have a Loblolly Cove room! I never saw The Love Letter. just knew loblolly as an old fashioned word for porridge.

The name also refers to a kind of scrub pine. I think that's how the cove got named.
