Allstate is smart - to get the rider, they have to be insured with them for homeowners. I wonder how long it will take the other insurance companies to jump on board with a rider. Just long enough to see the good hands fill up with cash as air hosts leave their fold.
Just had a thought - although the hosts will now have insurance (about time), the governmental agencies should have an easier time tracking for taxes & fees if they cull the insurance companies for who has the rider.

So now they cave in!!! We had Allstate from the moment we purchased our first home until the day (well close) we opened our B&B. Allstate had no B&B plans, thought it was too risky! Every now and again we call our agent and ask.
Interesting quote here of their new way of thinking: “If a temporary renter accidentally set a fire in the kitchen trying to cook dinner, you’d still be covered without this endorsement,” said Allstate spokesman Justin Herndon. “But if a temporary renter cracked your flat-screen TV or stole your home theater system, you wouldn’t have any coverage without this [rider].”
Back when we had Allstate the agent told us that if we had a paying temp. renter that set fire to our home that we would not be covered. In fact we were told that if we had any claim while having a paying temp renter the claim would be denied and our insurance revoked.
