New to this site, and honestly not too sure how it all works. But, I have an issue with the white towels... KEEPING THEM WHITE! How do you guys remove makeup/foundation?! I'm at my whits end with removing makeup and Im turning so many towels and facecloths into rags!

welcome
Bleach in the hot wash, alternating with vinegar next time. But it makes them wear out quicker in my experience.
Also a product I learned about here in the forum called Mom's Goop removes stains.
I also had little baskets of dark 'makeup' towels with a little sign in each bathroom asking that guests use them when removing makeup, bronzer and self tanning products. They were very inexpensive washcloths that I picked up dozens of.

Expensive Basic H. New this year we have black towels that says "make up" on them. Leave tissue box in bathrooms. Pray for your towels……. At the retreat center I worked at in 2007 and 2008 all washcloths were sprayed with Mean Green and put in to soak in a sink with laundry soap until next morning regardless of how they look. There we had lots of problems with dirt and grime on towels since there was lots of outdoor activities.
How is your water there? Maybe check into that. My parent's place has hard water and whites never lasted long there.
By the way, Welcome! Glad you have joined us!

Are the towels dirty or just dingy. Dingy is caused by two factors. One is that you need a soap that has brighteners in it, which is just basically a chemical that reacts to ultraviolet to make it shine as if it is white. The other factor is that brighteners don't work in LED light, so if you have converted to LED lights in the house, those brighteners won't work because there is no ultra-violet.
If it's dirty, we wash with fabric safe bleach (which is apparently hard to find in the US, but easy around here) with Oxy.

For mascara - rubbing alcohol. Dawn dish detergent. A small brush. Elbow grease. Then into the wash.

Murphys Oil Soap is my go-to. it gets out most stains other than mascara. Works for wine and berry stains, spaghetti sauce, grease.... Apply directly to stain, rub in, wash. I wash laundry in cold water but my towels and sheets are colors.

This happens to us once or twice in a blue moon and then it's Vanish Oxy.
If it's happening a lot then maybe you need house rules about damaged towels and people being charged for them.

We have saved ourselves a lot of stains and hassel by placing neutrogina make up wipes in plain blue plastic boxes on the vanities. You can buy prepackaged individual wipes also but they are costly. I use our label maker and they are labled makeup remover. MOst guests are using them. You can also get less costly refills at costco, but not the box. Hope this helps!
