Today is West Virginia's 153rd birthday. It is a State Holiday. Cake & ice cream us served at all the Welcome Centers and at the Courthouses all over the State.
The Shinnston Woman's Club will be serving cake and ice cream at the Museum from 6:00 to 7:30. Since I got arm-twisted and sucked into being co-president (oh joy!), I will soon be heading over to the grocery to get ice cream and help serve. It has been a beautiful day for our birthday.

I lived in West Virginia for four months when I was three. I have seen the pictures but have no memories…..

One of those silly surveys was done a few years ago that said West Virginia (the people of) was the most depressed State in the Union. One of the questions that I remember was, "Where do you see yourself in 10 years?" West Virginians would answer, right where I am - because we WANT to be here and nowhere else. That was considered a depressing answer.
We are West Virginia PROUD. I thank all of you for understanding the pride we have here.
