Bad reviews on TA can be written anywhere. Including in the room while the guest is here. Good reviews have to be written elsewhere or they just go missing. Guests left a week ago saying they had just written the review in their room before checking out and everything was lovely. Of course, that review never showed up. The one who had a complaint about the room wrote a review instead of coming and telling us and that one showed up pronto.

I just mentioned something to an innmate off line, as T.A. sent out an email offering us their FLAG to fly high. I have a nice suggestion, go ahead and order said flag, they burn our flag in other countries, now we have one that is eligible and possibly not as fire retardant. Says "Anonymous member of this forum" who doesn't want to get sued for that last comment, especially if the TA flag flies on the tail end of a really rotten seedy guest review.

.
Using it to warm my hands on a cool night as marshmallows are toasting is the ONLY use for a TA flag IMNVHO.

I use mine for garden clean up.

You got another 5 star review, so don't take the other too seriously!

Yes. That was lovely! Just wish the other one mentioned it to me while in the house instead of writing a review to tell me. Why stay in a room you don't like? And what the heck was that all about bags up the stairs? They never took bags up the stairs!

We had this chap would not let us carry his bags then complained he had to struggle with them - yup if you won't give them to us!

I get the frustration. We had a review a few weeks back, we were average and it was fair and objective. I responded.
Within 2 days I get another review, for the same stay, from the same guy, using what I assume is the wife's ID, all negative.
Of course, there is no TA support. Took me 3 attempts to get a response to take, finally today. I manage to get his other ID and quotes into the response.
Oh wait, I'm paying for this....

I relate all to well. But been doing this almost 14 years now. I often wonder if all those tickets I wrote at the college when I was working are coming back to bite me in the TA reviews ?? ;)

more people are reviewing now.
the thing is, it is guaranteed a person go to the worst rating first, so how we respond to those is what really counts. We all need to remind each other of this fact.

That stinks. One stay, one review.

I use ours for a mattress protector. :)

Wait, a real cloth flag to run up the flagpole??
I agree that innkeeper response is crucial. As a potential guest, or shopper of merchandise, I find myself going to the negatives and the one stars to see what it was about. Very often the innkeeper response is so good ... matter of fact ... explains the situation ... pulls a positive out of the negative like ' we're so glad you enjoyed the breakfast, sorry you didn't mention the problem while you were here ' that I can disregard the negative.
