We live in a residential area. If the business had not already existed, we would not have been able to start it due to current zoning.
I was at a neighborhood function last night and was asked how biz was. I replied that we were full for the month and the neighbor said, "I'm surprised! You aren't noisy at all!"
Nice to hear we are not disturbing our neighbors. Made me feel good. I've worried what the neighbors would think of us.
 
(except the guy who called our landscaping, "tacky." after we graveled over a grassy area to make more parking. Oh well.)

I have good rapport with our closest neighbor. While I do not see them often I do always ask them about noise or any other issues. And they have always stated that they would call us if ever they had an issue.
Meanwhile our other close neighbor has called local authorities many times through the years. He is well known in the area as a town drunk / idiot but has found one local gov. figure that will listen to his rants. We are always waiting to see what is next.

not the guy with the giant copper shiny roof by any chance? Im pretty lucky as because we are a terrace we havr to have legal parity wall agreements to do work on our place - its a good incentive to get on with your neighbours. ie flats to my left wanted a tree down right up against my property line they needed my consent - I was fine with it as it blocks a lot of light and was just about dead anyway. on the other side is the property we are buying so chap is very happy its going to us! and im consenting to his windows and a tree overhaul and he's agreeing to mine - its just common sense.
 
We only have one neighbor who, after our being in business for 29 years. has decided it is time she cashed in on the tourist trade and listed on air. We are to busy to keep track of who comes and goes, but she says she is busy during this summer season. All we hear is quiet from her guests...and must assume that our guests do not bother her either. She is a legal rental (I checked

) and I can only hope that she can get enough revenue to hang onto her Mom's house.

Amazingly, the one thing everyone is telling her to do is READ! Read the info, read the reviews, read how many beds.

best part is he is now finishing the landscaping. Cobble stones, beach roses, native plants. All the standard New England cottage garden parts. NOW you get traditional!!
 
I don't understand about the copper roof. In a year or two won't it fade to green? I see them in lots of places and don't mind them. I guess the glare off the newly installed copper is a lot to deal with?

there is a whole other thread about this but basically the work he has done on his house is completely out of step and keeping with the entire neighbourhood - then is criticising someone else! lol
