No wonder they didn't look at me.

Grandparents, parents and toddler here for four days. Friendly enough. Kid was well behaved and didn't throw rocks in the pond. ( my measure for kid behavior.).
As they left, no friendly goodbye and avoided my eyes.
Cuz they broke the window shade in one room and the faucet knob in the other room.
Thanks, guys.

oh man ... broke the faucet knob? Window shades were broken all the time and sometimes by me (guilty) hurrying or something. Will you charge them? when I contacted a guest about a broken light fixture over the bed he said it was fine when he left and it must have been 'the cleaning girls'. Guess what ... I was the cleaning girl and I didn't break it. If he had come to me and told me I would've dealt with it during this three night stay.

Geez Louise do they think you aren't going to notice? That you're not going to know who did that?
Of course, everyone is trained now to not apologize for fear of being sued so there we are.
I was expecting destruction in one room from the noise I heard last night but it looks fine.

Things happen some by accident, some not.
I sure am less apt to place the blame on someone when they let us know. Hey this happened.
Sadly even when they do, they don't say they are sorry. Not even for the little stuff.

"I'm so sorry that..." goes a long ways and everyone feels better in the end. One of our favorite repeats the wife can be clumsy and the husband is always apologizing and offering to clean up her mess. We just laugh and tell him that he's on vacation we will happily clean it. Two years later he still refuse to let her bring peanuts along after she knocked the whole bowl off the table and they went everywhere! We were all sitting around talking and she was telling a story with her hands and the next minute we were under a fountain of peanuts!

I really would prefer that people tell me so that I know that I have to make a repair. Most of it is just CoB. But it's worse not knowing. Like when a bulb is out... just tell us. I'm not going to charge you for the bulb.

Sometimes for me it is a learning experience, how/what can I change to avoid a repeat of the same problem in the future.

Yes! So much easier. Really folks, you're not the only ones, and accidents happen.
