DH starts to load the laundry. Determines there is an object inside the sheets. Finds the TV remote tangled in the sheets.
DH to housekeeper, "I found this in the sheets."
Housekeeper to DH, "How did that get there? I saw the remote on the floor before I made the bed. No idea how it got into the sheets."
DH shook his head and did the laundry.

you laugh but yesterday DH got a king size summer duvet lost in the sheet bundle - had put all the laundry bagged up outside by then so we had to go through everything virtually to find it!

She has a way of breaking things and saying she has no idea how it happened. So the idea that she left something on the floor, covered it with sheets and then denies culpability is pretty standard.

Vacuum cleaner. Broken twice this summer. 'really. I have no idea how that happened!' She's klutzy, that's how it happened.

That kind of thing would set my teeth on edge.

happened here too. I have no idea how the vacuum cleaner, that has been in my possession all morning, could possibly have broken.....baffling.

I read these and am glad I do the turnovers myself. The help experiment suddenly came to an end - before busy season so I wasn't dependent. I have many vacs, so wouldn't be a disaster, but the loss of tools of any kind when difficult and time consuming to replace - is a depressing inconvenience.
No inside guests so no breakfasts this morning. The two apartments leaving today so I'll be turning the one here then making the long drive. Tomorrow night''s nearby city apartment guest emailed yesterday to say plans had changed and she could only do the second night of the the two day minimum reservation. Since it is an Air booking I kicked it back to her to deal with Air. Miraculously she is now able to make both days.
I will try to find someone local to that city to turn that particular apartment, but for now I'm glad to be confident that it will be clean and ready - plus I can do shopping while I'm there.

It's one of the things that just comes with housekeeping. My housekeeper broke a mug with a silicone sleeve... it was the mug's fault.

I had one so klutzy that she'd walk down the hallway and brush into the paintings on the wall. Actually knocked one off and the frame smashed into pieces. She also brought straight bleach into a room in a bottle (instead of her regular cleaner) and dropped the bottle on the floor, ruining my carpet in my most expensive suite. Broken dishes, glassware, vacuums, etc. were the norm with her.

Yeah, I'm jumping up and down in frustration because one of our summer help just doesn't pay enough attention to details. Worked the last two summers and still doesn't know what towels and sheets go in which room unless they are in their space on the shelf, grab them from the pile, clueless. I guess I should be happy that she has them stack in piles for me to go through and put in the correct spot for the rooms. That's just the beginning... Oh, plans on working as an event planner after graduation of college at a ritzy five star hotel or restaurant….

Does not realize that in order to be good at what you want to do you have to at least try to be good at the crappy job you have right now. (We've had to train kids that this is a real job, not just picking up their room.,)

I feel like they just think this is just something to fill in time until graduation and on to the dream job. Also the boss' pleaser forgets that there's a 50% chance I will answer the phone when that "perfect job" manager calls….

Speaking of klutzy, my housekeeper takes the cake. I don't know how many repairs my vacuum cleaner cord has but I see more electrical tape than I do cord - thanks DH for being handy!
Sunday I found a pair of men's flip flops ($20 pair not $1 type) in the washer along with a blanket from the king room. How did those get here? That klutzy housekeeper swooped them up when picking the blanket off the floor.
I would say it would be better if I did the work myself.... but I can't - that klutzy housekeeper is me!

See we had simmilar with last cleaner - just put in new carpet - just cheap but brand new and got bleach on it even before a guest had walked on it - didn't even suggest contribution to damage just sort of shrugged it off
what would others have done?

Wow. I probably would have complained to my husband and not said anything.

hahaha.....he says, 'oh don't bother with that this time'.....I keep telling him: "yes, women will notice".....he thinks its crazy I iron sheets, well the parts that will show at any rate. Some days the detail stuff seems to take as long as the rest of the room turnover. :)
