Hi folks,
Yesterday I have published an article on the topic of Facebook Retargeting(Remarketing) using the provided free tools. Have you tried it out? From the looks of it, it should work really nice for the hospitality business and help build some loyalty. In short:
Retargeting is the process of displaying ads to people who have already come in contact with your brand, usually by visiting your website or clicking on one of your PPC ads (example: Google AdWords).
Retargeting can be very efficient because it only targets users that have already visited your website at least once and have been exposed to your brand. These visitors are more likely interested in your product or service and are easier to convert into paying customers.

I think I'll try it. Thanks, dumitru!

OK, I'm back 20 minutes later. I created my Pixel, FB says it's active and it's showing a few results on the graph. I just don't know what FB users are seeing. If I don't create a custom ad, do they see anything?
I'm not clear on the need for the other steps. Am I done?
Is it mandatory to create a Custom audience if I'm only using the pixel on 1 website?
Is it mandatory to create a Facebook Ad targeted at a Custom Audience, in order to get my website to appear on their FB newsfeed?
Thanks again!

Hey Arks! I went on your website, TA, and then on Facebook but it didn't show up. Just wanted to let you know. I'm sure my inbox is stuffed with TA emails encouraging me to write a review and let Arks know how I like the B&B.

The Facebook Pixel in itself doesn't show anything on the front-end. It is only a tool to start populating a custom audience list.
Simply adding it to the website doesn't do anything.
BUT, after you build a custom audience, you CAN create a Facebook Ad and target it only at this custom audience (or multiple audiences).
Yes, you need to create a custom audience even if you use it on a single website. The custom audience is the one that contains the criteria by which the list is populated with data.
Yes, it is mandatory to create a Facebook Ad if you want an Ad to appear for a custom audience.
IMPORTANT: This Facebook Pixel doesn't interfere in any way with your regular Page, your personal feed, status updates, etc.

Great. Thanks. I'll get to work on finishing things up ASAP.

Got busy and forgot about it! Thanks for the reminder. I'll get back to work on setting it up.

OK, I created the required "custom audience" to be everyone who has visited my website in the last 30 days. But when I try to create an ad, it says the audience is too small and the ad won't show.
Generally, Facebook ads target several thousand people. Like, I can pay $20 to show an ad to everybody withing 25 miles of Memphis, and the ad will be shown to about 3000 people for that $20.
But an ad targeted only to people who have visited my website in the last 30 days, only hits a few hundred people, so that's not enough to meet Facebook's threshold minimum to show the ad.
Maybe after my pixel has been around for a few more months, they'll have a large enough audience data to make an ad work.

Don't forget that even if you had 1000 visitors last months, only a part of them were actually logged in on Facebook. It can be 10% or 90% and anything in between.
But it is a good thing you mentioned this, I didn't even think this could be a problem.

Ah, so that's how this works. It's a reason I do not stay logged into Facebook when I do anything online.

I have no idea about Facebook Retargeting/Remarketing. I read your article. Facebook Retargeting/Remarketing is really effective to promote product or brand. I will definitely try it.
Thanks,. Mr.dumitru
