Do you have exterior lights to show the path to the door and maybe in the parking area? Are they motion sensor lights? Timed? On all the time?
Ditto inside lights.

We have 4 mid wattage flood lights in the parking area, a few solar landscape lights but they are only as a dim guide, and then our porch lights. The balcony lights are on until 11pm which help give light to the walkway as well but given all these lights, it is still pretty dark.
The flood lights are dusk to dawn. We tried motion type but that did not work well in the areas we have to mount them as the 'eye' did not pick up the motion in critical areas.

We have motion detector lights where the cars are parked and up to the door.
I like them except little things make them turn on like racoons or skunks! or cats or who knows what. Middle of the night, lights come on and I can't see what's out there. We had to make sure the lights were not shining in anyone's bedroom or at the neighbors. They are quite bright and stay on a while.
One place I worked had them in the basement hallway where my office was. I appreciated that so much! I'd go down the elevator in the dark, alone, and the elevator doors would open and the lights would come on in the hallway leading to the office --- so that I wasn't fumbling for light switches in dark halls. And when I opened the office door to leave, the lights would come on again and stay on until I went up the elevator.
I also like those rope lights you can mount along the floor or a pathway outside. They aren't obnoxious and just enough light so you can see steps and things.

For safety (liability) don't want guest stumbling in the darkness.
Lights along the porch (also help light parking in front of porch) are on a photo cell and come on as long as it is dark
Sign and low voltage yard lanterns around the circular drive are on a timer and run dusk to after guests should be in for the night
Security light on power pole at one side of parking area casts at least some light over the area

We keep lights on at the door but we also have a motion detection light that lights the driveway to the door. Animals do set ours off once in a while too.

I have a porch light at each porch. Being in town, there are street lights and being surrounded bu parking lots, there are BRIGHT lights all night (one is a bar a block away but the parking lot is across the alley).
Inside, the hall lights are on day and night when we have guests in-house. The railing around the stairwell is low for "modern times" and turning left from the Harris is stairs instead of the bathroom. Paying the electric bill is cheaper than paying a lawyer.

We have photo cell at the back and the front is very well lit by lamposts etc so never worried there - photo cell is better for the UK as gets light in the morning in the summer about 4am and dark about 11pm but in the winter its 9.30 light and 4pm dark so we would be forever changing the clocks.

I have a sensor flood light on the garage which lights up the parking area, plus LED strips on the walls all round the area.
I have a light by the front door which at the best of times is not completely adequate at the best of times, but when my hanging baskets are in full bloom like now the light is even less suitable. I've given this quite a bit of thought but have yet to come up with a stylish and prefereably inexpensive solution to this one.

We have street lights, landscape lights, and motion lights…. but could still use more. Its on the list. The When-We-have-nothing-else-going-on list, this is what we would like to do. It is a long list and the "squeaky wheel" gets the top five spaces.

For $9 a month the electric company installed a regular street light at the back of the property that illuminates the entire parking area. There's a spotlight on the far side of the front of the house and a bunch of lights on the porch. All are on a dusk to dawn sensor. There are several lamps inside the house that stay on all the time. I just tell people the electric bill is part of my marketing plan.

We have just opened and have no lights outside at all. So I've put up a metal stand with 2 medium sized flashlights attached for guests to use. Thing is I forgot to put batteries in them. It was funny the next morning at breakfast when people complained of falling over and hitting into things on their way up the path. Kidding. We have plenty of lights.

All the hallways lights are motion sensor, except the main hallway, which we leave on at all times.

For indoor lights we have two lights in the skylight and lamps everywhere.
