We've had 3-4 decent packages over the years that seem to work - Babymoon, Foliage, Shopping, Day trips.
Well it's the end of summer and we've had zero bookings up until this week when we got 4 for the fall.
So, looking for some new ideas. I had one put together that I worked on with an attraction nearby. I now can't get them to respond to my emails or phone calls. An attraction for Pete's sake!
Another person told me he does a lot of business with the other inns in town but he won't give me a price so I can tell our guests about it.
Must be me. Anyway, what sorts of packages do you have that seem to attract attention from your guests?
 
Bachelorette weekends….all we did (that we know of) was post pictures of the first one on Facebook. Also word of mouth or "Hello! I was there for a bachelorette party last year and…." Usually for a friend that is getting married, but also birthdays, gatherings from the four winds, or a getaway from kids and husbands since dads and kids need bonding time, too. etc. We also do family reunions and sailing teams and give them a bargain if they take the whole house for a week.
 
I was going to say, for a girlfriends getaway something like a bead making class etc would be fun!
I then went to the glass blower, art center at the end of our street and on the homepage clicked on the "for group classes" and more and all I find are red support donation links everywhere (top, bottom and side of this page), so I guess my suggestion, is not one. doh!

Yes! Good idea. I do have something they can do right here in the house. Thanks! Totally forgot this traveling artist. We did a group class and they loved it (ok, some of them did, some did not!) but it was a fun idea.
Will contact her again after Sept.

Mine will not work for you. Sorry - Rail-Trail and Bring Your Horse. Where I do the Covered Bridges and Winery, you could do the lighthouses and that Wood Products Store at Thomaston. That package of mine includes a packed lunch.

Painting Party - I love them! As long as you have a place they can store all that stuff (barn, shed?) It's totally best if they can paint outside, set up on easels on the sidewalk but if weather is bad they need a shelter. Or if there's a place you could send them to do the painting.
Photography Party, too.
October is coming - set up your Haunted Getaway - got any ghost tours in the area? I think you did a ghost walk once upon a time. Is she still doing this? Bring in someone who does readings.

How about a breakfast fondue. Attached with wine tour. If you don't have wine in your area , how about attaching some kind of tour.

For us it's Harvest Jazz and Blues that comes up the second week of September (starts tomorrow!) This year there isn't as many big names this year which has affected our bookings. Another is anything related to events going on downtown, as we are a ten-minute riverside walk to a the downtown core.
We have been looking for ways to initiate getting a package together; any tips? I have a marketing, sales and admin background but the funny thing is, I am racking my brain to see how we can get something started.
Our location is perfect for hosting romance packages, ski and stays, adventure packages, restaurant, theatre, you name it.
What do I ask a potential collaborator? I really have no idea how to respond to "well, what do you have in mind for a partnership?" I feel as though having a proper presentation may work best.

What I do for packages may be different from other places - I try not to work with one off events or places that may run out of tickets.
So, I will do something like a babymoon where everything is easily purchased and the guest goes and does things on their own with their gift cards.
I don't like having to call a million people trying to organize something like a massage.
Things that are totally dependent on weather I try to avoid. Things like skiing as an example. No snow? Everyone wants their money back.
I'll do a shopping package where the guest gets gift cards for different stores, passes for the movies and dinner in town. They organize their whole day around the different stores and movies.
