I don't pick the room, you do. You picked this room with a description stating it has lots of windows looking out on the main drag.
Of course every motorcycle with loud pipes has screamed past since they checked in.

You can't help the noise. We're remote back on over 20 acres and if the guy up the street decides to start shooting off his arsenal of guns then my guests get to checkin to the sound of a mini war going on. We are a family that target shoots and hunts as well but we don't break out the ammo and go crazy if guests are here. But I have no control over this new guy. I so wish I had bought the house and rented it out to families that called looking for a place.

….. Wished we did! Our last guests to check in to our smallest guest room. I was waiting for the couple and in walked three children followed by the dad with the mom bringing the rear. Oops! Guess he forgot about the children when he made the reservation?!?!?!?!?!? And we take children but not in that room!!!! We are totally booked so can't move them….

They're so tiny, they're easy to forget.

The oldest is at least ten and the youngest is five? Not so tiny or quiet. They are in the "quiet section" of the house…. Got a deal since they wanted our nicest room but it wasn't available for their whole stay, so at least they move from that room tomorrow! Positive thinking.

You are too kind. I wouldn't be able to allow 5 people in a room for 2, no matter if they were swapping tomorrow to a larger room.

Somebody said the other day "do you have any bigger beds?"................yeah, sure, I keep a set of spare super king beds in the cupboard just in case.

Don't give us too much credit! We were too shock and where else could we put them?!? I'm sure the two ladies who have the room with 2 queens and a single so they didn't have to share a bed would love another roommate or two. After all, its only one night!

Edited: They left this morning after breakfast.

Got a demerit on a review because the mattress was too firm. I wondered if she thought we should keep spares so guests could choose their preference.

Maybe put in your review about if she had told you while she was here you could have added a topper to the mattress to make it softer.
We had a firm mattress which we put a soft topper on and people just raved…. then a repeat came and express disappointment since she used to love that room because of the firm mattress. Problem solved, she calls ahead of time to remind us to remove the topper.

Years ago I had a couple who came and brought their 18 year old son. He was going to be hiking the Appalachian Trail while his parents stayed here. He was told by his parents under no circumstances was he invited into the Inn. Half way through the stay he called his dad and said there was a creep following him. Dad went and got him but they held firm about not allowing him inside. He ended up hanging his hammock under the lower porch and slept outside, in the rain. Ha ha!
I did sneak him a muffin and coffee in the morning.
To the parent's credit: when they recently returned, I learned the boy had graduated with honors from the Citadel. I love parents who hold their ground!

I prefer two-legged animals as the reference. Having had 6 of the species, I know to what I speak of. (Also being one of four of that ilk too many years ago to think about, I have a different appreciation of my Mother.)
