Is this something new - pre approval for guest? This is the second one we've gotten in a week where the guest is requesting pre approval for the room. They are not reserving it and Air clearly states I can continue to market the room and it's not blocked off on Air. The guest has 24 hours to respond.
Every other room request we've gotten has been 'accept/decline' and it's immediate. But this is the second one that was 'pre-approve/decline'. What does that look like from the guest's side? Are they looking at multiple places at the same time?
Or, is this Air's way of forcing me to immediately accept all reservation requests without having a chance to even see the dates?

its not new but basically means they are shopping around ie have put in approval for 6 places and from who says they will accept them they then pick one - you should get the dates though

Not new. We get them but we don't feel bad if someone else books the room in the meantime. I like the other way better since its not waiting to see, etc.

I don't think it is the guest necessarily that is explicitly requesting pre-approval, rather I think it is Air's attempt to help facilitate and close the deal.... since unless you have enabled instant booking both the guest and the host have to agree in order for a booking to go through -- Air is asking for your agreement in advance just in case the guest decides to follow through and actually request to book....
ETA -- don't these inquiries have dates? I can't remember be asked to pre-approve a guest without dates.

I got the inquiry at noon yesterday. The guest had 24 hours. At 8 pm I got an email saying the guest had booked elsewhere.
For me, their time was up at noon, but it doesn't really matter as the room wasn't on hold.
