We'll never know. Guest booked for July, cancelled and moved to today. Called today and cancelled for good. You would think someone would know before check in that they had to work today.

Huh? Maybe they will try again…. If you first don't succeed, try, try again!

I don't think you'll get a third time if he got charged. What a numbskull!

well ... I don't know the facts of this situation obviously. But I've got family members that get called into work last minute all the time. The obvious: obstetrician, nurse, doctor, prenatal sonographer --- someone is sick or whatever and they get called to cover. This is not an option. But also the not so obvious: the IT guy and the pizza delivery guy. The delivery guy and the prenatal sonographer are most abused. If they refuse to cover, they are out of a job.
Not saying it's right or fair to anyone. Not saying you don't have the right to charge for the cancellation. But there are lots of situations where it's absolutely the truth.

I don't know the facts either. All I got was that the guest had to work. Thing is, they were coming from so far away that it wasn't just one night here. My guess is it was a whole vacation.

who knows ... hoping it wasn't just blowing you off.

And, just for fun - the doorbell rings at 10 with one of today's check ins, just so excited to be here!!!
2 minutes later, another car pulls in. Guy with the gets out. Ok, Gomez can get this one - salesman of some sort. Because all innkeepers are free to talk at 10 am!

Sigh
in previous work this has happened to me. In some specialized jobs there is just no other way to cover. I lost vacation time, fortunately had not booked a far away trip.

I just tell that I'm an employee and that the manager isn't in and I'm not allowed to give out his phone number or email. Unless you want me to get fired. Do you want me to get fired?

Our owner just turned 93 yesterday. (Nope, she's not available to take your call today.)

Another one of those beating head against the wall moments.
Glad you charged them, they have taken up to much of your extremely limited inventory.

BTW, the guy had a tie. I obviously didn't proof my original: Guy with the gets out. Guy with TIE gets out.

Id have been "she is celebrating her 93rd birthday with family today" - guarantee they wouldn't have a comeback!

Just booked another night. I seriously don't want to keep taking this person's money for not showing up.

Hubby (the Manager) always gets me to pretend he's the part-time employee so he can be blamed for things without it looking bad, haha!

How odd! Did they ask to use the charge from the last cancellation as a credit for this stay?

No contact at all, the rez just popped up.

Well, with a completely different reason why they cancelled 3 different dates they sweet talked Gomez into not charging them the full price for tonight. Just shoot me now. So, essentially, they jerked us around for three stays and paid for one.
I'm moving on to a new policy - changing dates is cancelling and will incur a $25 fee. Every. Single. Time.
