So we just got an email from ResNexus saying our monthly rate is going up 43% this month- I am speechless! Has anyone had this kind of increase? And has anyone taken their business elsewhere - and to where? Just a small inn, trying to stay in business......

Did you add any rooms? My bill went up almost $40 a month but it's because we went from 9 to 10 rooms. Pretty big increase for just adding one more room to the mix I thought but they all seem to have some bump when you get to 10 rooms. Since we're greatly increasing our revenue it isn't a big deal but if I got that increase with no increase in rooms/revenue then it would be quite different.

Any recommendations on who I should get a quote from, we're just a small inn (3 rooms) and this is a big hit on a small budget!

Try Reservation Key (as Empty Nest suggested). They give you a free one month trial, no yearly contracts either. They have lots of bells and whistles for the price and their support is great! There are many innmates on this forum using them.

Wow. Haven't gotten an email yet, but I'm afraid to hit refresh after your news.

Get rid of them. I'm on the ReservationKey bandwagon. Top notch, reasonably priced, outstanding customer service. The switch will only be uncomfortable for a short time - that increase is gonna hurt for awhile.

All these companies say, "We haven't raised rates in 3 years. That's why the 40% increase." With inflation under 3%, it should be less than 10% in 3 years. Most inns have NOT gone up 10% in the last 3 years. They should, but they haven't.
I use Reservation Key, and am the happiest camper in the tent.

Did you look very carefully at that email? Are they adding features that were ala carte before? If you don't need the extras it's probably time for a change. Given the size of you place you probably don't need/want all the CMS pieces. But how about the credit card processing gateway? Do you need/want that?

and yet some reservation mgmt company called today, said I showed interest in them a while back, yeah not likely dude, not bloody likely. I am not even going to share the name here.
I guess this is how they weasel in, by lying.
IF YOU ARE READING THIS then let me tell you lying to me has the opposite effect, I won't return your call, and next time I will share your name with this.

I just found this notice from back on August 8 that came across the ResNexus system:
ResNexus Classic and AutoPilot Editions are being converted to Starter, Essentials and Professional Editions. Essentials is basically Classic. Professional is basically Classic + AutoPilot. We performed an "edition re-brand" two years ago. Nothing will change on your side as far as features and benefits. This is simply a brand name update for some of our long-time customers.
For the majority of our customers the pricing remains the same. There are a few ResNexus businesses (10%) where their pricing may need to be adjusted. We will contact them individually to review their pricing options.

I have 3 rooms. Have been with ResKey since 2010. Do not plan to EVER change. It is TOTALLY Affordable. Just 2 reservations a year in my best room MORE than pays the annual fee - and I get a lot more than 2 reservations online per year. Plus I can access it from iPad, iPhone, Kindle no matter where I am if I have wifi.

How easy is it to transfer all that info from ResNexus to Reservation Key? This is going to be hard I can tell!

When I transferred from Webervations to RezKey, it was very simple. It's been a while, memory is foggy, but I think I just requested a .cvs file and uploaded it on. Not all of the information will be transferred (at least it wasn't back then), but you will at least have the names so you know if it's a repeat guest. If you have a lot of current reservations that need ALL of the info transferred (cc#, phone, email, etc), then you may have to manually transfer those. Things may have changed from five years ago though - John is constantly updating and adding features to make our lives easier. It's worth whatever hassle it is!

We are planning on switching too, but as our current website won't support Reskey, we have to redo that as well…. so we are waiting for the dead of winter to do it.

Although I totally understand waiting to slower times (we switched to RK in November), looking at your website or anyone's website, all one has to do is create a Check Availability or Book Now button and link it to your RK res page, and voila you are merrily on your way!
