I sent this link to a friend who grew up in Yorkshire. She said the complainer was likely not from Yorkshire. That kind of bad manners usually means a Lancashire origin!!!Jcam said:

Lancashire is the next county over with which we have had a sort of friendly sibling rivalry with since the war of the roses (white rose for Yorkshire Red for Lancashire) in 1487 which basically ended when they married each other - leads to a lot of over the boarder type jokes and fun poking.
For example had some guests visiting family and he collected rare flasks - flask was in yorkshire but relatives were just over the boarder - shop owner said he would give it to them (my guest had paid for it in advance) but he wasn't sure about "them from over the boarder" but if my guest vouched for them it would be fine - ie Joking. My guest was from Australia and was a bit mystified!
A Tyke is a slang word for a Yorkshire Person
BUt as a local (cafe is 15 miles from me) where it is located is not a cheap place for lunch and is a massive tourist trap and they charge a lot as they know there will be another 250 coach loads of people to replace you tomorrow - don't really have to worry about building a local rep. HOwever If i can't afford it I don't go out - its that simple.
