Received a rez for 2 rooms. One is a repeat guest making rez for family and ? No names given for other room.
I have in big letters in the notes the repeats are smokers. Which means, to me, there was a big enough stink in the room last time that it had to be stripped. I can remind them that smoking is not allowed near the building. No butts in the house, etc.
Second, bigger problem, is if the other guests are the same friends who came last time they broke the toilet. Actually cracked the bowl.
The room selected this time is upstairs and I'm not sure these same guests, if that's who they are, can walk upstairs.
I've contacted the person who made the rez to ask for more info.
 
Are you prepared to turn them away? Delicate situation for sure. Good luck

Did they not remember their own faux pas the first time around? Did the pay for the damage? If yes, maybe they feel there's no harm done in rebooking. Do they not remember they layout in the house?
All rhetorical questions, just makes you wonder... :)

It is so hard to come up with a tactful way to address this.
Hopefully the toilet breakfast are not the ones coming this time.
I recently had a call from a company that books a travel group. The last time they were here the tour guide's GF took several personal items from areas not open to guests. It is the #1 reason there is a lock now on the kitchen door.
The list goes on and on for this GF, and is still at the top of our DNB list. So when the person told me the group, my first statement was who is the guide. At least I am not confronting him personally.

I don't think they had any idea they broke the toilet. We didn't notice it until after they were gone and we couldn't be sure they did it.
 
That's a difficult one, especially if you can't be sure it was them that broke the toilet.
Smoking is another one that's difficult, we've had people smoking in the room a couple of times, once we found the ash on the window sill outside the other threw the butt out of the bedroom window and we saw it sail past our lounge window onto the lawn.
However we've had a few people who just reek of cigarettes, they leave the smell in the room, in fact they leave it wherever they go, but what do you do about that!
 
Two cents worth from a "handyman". The body of a bowl is usually pretty tough, seems like it would take a lot of force to break, the thinner areas such as where the tank bolts to the bowl, I could see that breaking if a guest leaned against the tank or slipped and fell against the tank. I would expect the tank to fail first, but I'd worry more about the liability to the guest if he/she slipped. The other weak area is where the bowl bolts to the floor flange, I've broken one by tightening the bolts too tight, but over time and use those bolts can loosen and the movement could cause a break. Part of my bathroom cleaning process is to give the bowl a gentle tug to look for movement which may indicate that I need to tighten the bolts or replace the wax seal so that a leak doesn't damage my floor.

This was a hairline crack thru the bowl. Gomez scrubbed it a few times before he realized it was a crack and not hair or something he couldn't get off.
We were, quite frankly, astonished.
We had a guest slam the tank into the wall. Never mentioned the water all over the floor. We thought all that was broken was what we could see but the fill line was broken inside the wall as well as outside. We found that out when the guests in the room downstairs calmly said there seemed to be something wrong with the ceiling in their bathroom. Which collapsed when Gomez touched it. THAT was a busy afternoon getting it all repaired and painted before the guests returned.

That is unusual, casting flaw and slight stress brought on by a minor shift in the supporting floor?
Leak in the wall sounds like fun, at least we are all on one floor, big help with that sort of problem. Last winter put off finishing cleaning until after a trip to town, guess it was quieter than usual and I heard water running, water spraying under the bath (house), tight squeeze for an old guy and it is 15 degrees, wet and windy.

I buy the removable toilet seats. Heck, I've been known to put them through the dishwasher from time to time...

We've had to replace one of ours last week, we always buy the slow close types so I don't have to listen to them crashing down at 2am, didn't realise it was a removable one too, never seen them before.
