X Marks The Problem....

Well, I'm going to try to make a long story short. X made a reservation and they confirmed with the client even though they received no confirmation from us. So the guest arrives and has a confirmation from X, but we don't have them in the system and we don't have room. I check X online and there is the reservation but with no confirmation number.
So, I take things into my own hands. I call around and find them a place. Even them some drinks, take them by car to pick up the keys and pay and then I took them to the apartment with their luggage and left them there. I then went to X and marked it as cancelled and told them why in the comments.
Lo and behold today I get "Real-time feedback" from the guest... but it's not for me, it's for X. So I answer the feedback to the guest, give them the phone number for X. Well, a few minutes later, I get a call from X trying to get to the bottom of the situation. I explain that it was X's fault, where I sent them, etc. And that was the end of the call.
And so now... you have Paul Harvey's The Rest of the Story... also known as how Generic takes responsibility when X screws up.

What a mess! This past weekend had been horrible for a lot of people it looks like. Guests are starting to suck the life out of me!

This was actually not this last weekend, but the weekend before that. I guess the guest got back home and complained to X about the problems.

I wish we had had you to fix the problem when X confirmed a reservation for us in London and the hotel had no idea who we were. After several hours X finally sent us (at our $) to another hotel, who also did not have a room. That hotel at least drove us to a third hotel where we could finally lay our head after a very long journey!
You, on the other hand, are the BEST! What a great host!

I"m sorry X did this to you. It sure seems like this month has been the official pick on Generic month. But the good news is there are only five days left to this month! You can do it! Only four more days! Then the homestretch to your vacation! Hold on!

be sure to audit your statement so x doesn't charge you for a reservation you never had.

There's a magnet on the fridge, leftover from my uncle that says, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

Thanks, I will try not to! I have found that keeping your focus and eyes on the light makes life better than glaring at the dark side. I have had a roller coaster ride of life starting before birth but I have survived by God's grace, my family, and friends. I just want to be a help...until you try to drive through our driveway!

In the last 10 days, I have gone from nothing on the books for the rest of the year except freebies, to a full-house coming in tomorrow, a paid 1 night to start October, a GC coming in next week ($$$ already used but now will be allocated out of liability column), and a 1-night each way a week apart in November.
That is why I never become REALLY depressed (my first rez is on the books for 2017 - a 2-night freebie. My freebies are limited to my B & Bs For Vets and two 2-nighters a year for events that magazine does every year - the one that publishes my articles with the name of my B & B. Usually they expire unused - this time both are coming home to roost.
