Hadn't had this one before. Got a letter from "Chargeback Processing Center" today saying my bank account was being debited because a card holder did not recognize the charge.
It have me the last 4 digits of the card number and the date the transaction went through (Sept. 7) and the amount of the charge. It didn't give the guest name, address, or any other info.
I spent some time looking in ResKey for the reservation, but couldn't find any way to search for a card number or the date a transaction was entered. I found several transactions under the Reservations tab for the amount of the sale, but didn't find a reservation that used that card number.
I finally went to Authorize.net, which processes my online payments, opened the batch for the charge date, and did find the charge, as well as which room they'd booked, and for what date. Luckily ResKey passes all that info to Authorize.
So I went back to ResKey, went to that room and date, and found the reservation and cancelled it. Luckily it was for next March (which was a later date range I'd searched in the reservations list), so I'm not out any money. It came through Booking so I went to the reservation in Booking and reported it as a fraudulent credit card.
My question is, does anybody know a way I could have easily looked this up in ResKey? Glad I finally figured out to check Authorize!

My answer is: Ask John. He will say "all you had to do was..."
Or, you will let him know what to do if someone asks.

I was thinking Momma Smurf might have an idea. She knows more than John on some of that stuff :)
But really, I solved the puzzle with Authorize. The post was more of about an interesting situation than actually needing help. In other words, a rhetorical exercise, or, some may say, a waste of time! But wanted to throw it out as just one more pitfall we can all run up against.

I don't think there is a way to access it via ResKey as it is not legal for them to keep cc#. That is probably why you had to go to your processor.

ResKey does retain the last 4 digits of the CC number, and that's all the letter I got included, so it SHOULD be searchable in ResKey. If it's not already there, John needs to add it. Should be fairly simple to add it to the Search feature at the top of the screen.

Well, Momma is positively blushing... aw, shucks. She doesn't use Authorize though, but does keep tabs on John for the sake of her fellow crew members.

Just looking around, would the "payment report" be of assistance? Of course it may depend on how many payments were made on the day in question, but maybe it would give an idea.

Reservations Manager; Reservations Tab; Date Range = Custom; Date Type = Booking; set range to precede and encompass transaction date, and click the search button.... Should work, no? Not searching by CC# but by date of booking....

Yes, that brought up the one I needed. Thanks. I was leaving Date Type at Arrival instead of Booking. Very good!
