UK folks - if you were making a traditional seed cake what would that look like? What seeds would you use? Does anyone have a recipe that's traditional?
(I'm knee deep in Agatha Christie right now.)
I was thinking poppy seeds but the first recipes that came up were for caraway seeds which might make it like my Nana's soda bread but I don't know.

I knew Generic would help you out!

So it is really a bread. Back then they must have called it cake. Just like biscuits are cookies

Well, not like Nana's as that's a quick bread not a yeast bread.

Mrs Beeton's cookbook of Household Management! has a recipe for seed cake.
theenglishkitchen.blogspot.com. also talks about such a recipe.
