Not sure if the guest has a speech impediment and a slow way of talking or if there were one or two too many drinks imbibed at lunch. It was an interesting check in...
Guest pulling me aside to tell me about a food restriction. Me looking dumbfounded as we had just gone over all of that 2 minutes prior. Guest's spouse telling me it wasn't an allergy so don't worry. Guest saying something different. Other guests traveling with this one had asked for a specific breakfast which is exactly what this one can't eat.
And I let it go right there. No time to stress over this today.

Always be careful. Have a regular guest who always sounds drunk but he had a stroke several years ago.

Bingo! We have a winner. I figured that out this morning. There was a lot of alcohol flowing yesterday so not too hard to make that mistake.

Indeed. Back when I had a desk job, my second-floor window looked out at the lawn in front of the post office across the street. I saw a man lying there, rolling around a little, while pedestrians passed him by; drunks and street people were not uncommon there and everyone presumed that he was one. After watching this indifferent parade for nearly 10 minutes I decided to go down myself. I found a mangled bicycle, the man on the lawn was bloodied and unable to speak – he had been hit by a car and crawled there only to be ignored. I called an ambulance and they took him away.

My ex, dressed in a suit and with a briefcase, slipped off the curb in Manhattan. He lay in the street with a twisted ankle. No one stopped to help. Finally, a cop came to help and had to get his mother to go to the hospital to get him. He had to stay with her for a few days until he could drive the car. (And me, in the middle of nowhere with two kids not knowing what's going on!)
