Anyone do the bacon in the microwave? I started to look for microwave bacon cookers for the hubby but they all seem to only make 5 or 6 slices.
Right now he cooks a lb of bacon in the oven every day. Just thought I'd find a way to cut time.

not just time but its handy if you are caught short and just need a bit more done quickly as it doesn't need watching in the micro as opposed to a pan.

Of course you can do it in the microwave it is better this way
Just put strips between couple sheets of paper towels and cook on high for a couple of minutes
time depend on how many strips
8 takes 4-6 min. Depends on your ovens power

for a pound of bacon, I'd just use the oven. I used to do two pounds for 20 people on a big broiling pan covered with foil and then racks set on the foil ... 20 minutes or so ... 375 degrees, and leave it in there warming. It worked great.
for home/family, I use the microwave between towels on a plate 3 minutes for 3 strips of bacon. But the plate gets hot so have to be careful. I wouldn't do it for a crowd. Have never used a special cooker to do more in the micro at once.

Agree I would not do a pound in the microwave it would not work well better to use oven for that amount. I used to dredge mine in a bit of flour, pepper, and brown sugar and folks liked it
microwave is for 3 - 6 or so strips

Hate microwave bacon. Altho, regular bacon microwaved can be ok. I just use paper towels. I used to have one those trays that drained off the greases.

I don't think trying to cut time by cooking bacon in the microwave is a good idea. There is nothing like the smell of crisply baked bacon to set the mood for a delicious breakfast. If your DH lines a sheet pan with foil the clean up is really easy. While he preheats the oven (15min) and puts the bacon in to cook (15-20 min) he can be prepping the rest of the meal. If he is really pressed for time on a particular morning he could pre-bake the bacon the day before and just "freshen" it up in the oven before serving.

.
regular bacon.
using microwave for when we run out.
normal mornings is a pound of bacon on cookie sheets - 7 minutes, then switch top and bottom cookie sheet, then 7 more minutes. then drain individually so they are not fatty.
What I'm hearing is that a microwave bacon cooker is no better than a plate with paper towels. Since storage is at a premium in our kitchen, I think I'll skip it.
Thanks for the input, all!!!!

Go to the Restaurant Depot in Everett - buy a box of their precooked bacon slices (300 in a box - 2 packs of 150 slices each). Microwave a plate full of them (I have a tray from Amazon) and it takes about 2 minutes I think for a full tray. Turns out awesome and guests LOVE it. I did this shortcut back about 10 years ago when I was still working full time out of the B&B and hubby had too much on his plate in the morning with two toddlers and running a B&B by himself. I never figured that I still be doing it but guests really do love it. I don't know what it is but it's different than the precooked bacon in the store packages. I have no mess and the house does smell like bacon. We have a warming drawer so after it's cooked it sits in their for the hour during service and gets even crispier.

Restaurant Depot - you can get a card as a business and purchase all of your food, cleaning supplies, dishes, pans, etc. (all commercial stuff) at big discounts. They have them in Andover and Everett MA (other locations but I think those are the closest to you). If you live near one you save tons of money vs. having delivered by a food distributor.

Cooking bacon in the microwave is the only way I ever cook it! I use a draining style microwaveable dish and top the bacon with paper towels to catch the popping grease. Comes out perfect every time. You may need to do 2-3 cycles to do 1 lb of bacon, but for me it is well worth it. And there is still the aroma but without the smoke (at least in my case).
