I'm starting this weekend! Early for me, but last year felt so much like a chore that I thought I'd stretch it out this year.
I'm starting with the Village pieces. They take so long to put out and they can technically be a 'winter village.' They don't necessarily need to be Christmas only. right? (rationalizations can be good.)

I'm decorated for fall right now. Christmas decorating starts after Thanksgiving. We have one week to do everything before our town wide Christmas hoopla and that's when we do it.
You can't justify Christmas or winter decor when it's not even Thanksgiving yet. ;-)

I know! That's what makes it difficult. The stores get away with it, but we can't.
No trees until after Thanksgiving. But the lights can go up. And I'm doing the village. I'll call it a Thanksgiving village and put lots of tiny pumpkins in front of the houses. :)

I do not do much usually. It is not a busy guest time for us - and it is just the 2 of us except Christmas dinner when it hoes to 5 for about 3 hours. I usually put our tree up a week before - IF I can get ot my sewing machine to close it and get to the tub of ornaments. Our tree is in my office on top of my sewing machine.
I bought a tiny tree for upstairs that sits on top of the nuker in the hall and I usually hang swags of green on the staircase with tiny lights on top of the railing - up and around. Wreath on the door. done.

Sounds simple and elegant.
We are on two inn stroll tours this Christmas, so we have to 'do it up.' The first one is the weekend after Thanksgiving - so that is why I'm starting early this year.
The Innkeeper association is trying a new fund raiser this year. A cookie stroll. It is timed to start just as the annual gallery stroll is ending. Go to 6 inns, pick up cookies, see the inns and end at an inn that serves dinner. They are giving 20% off dinner coupons. I hope it catches on.

You have that justification meter set to stun, don't you? ;-)
That sounds cute with the pumpkins.
Stores are annoying when they trample seasons like that.

always!
I wish I'd thought of the pumpkin thing sooner. Hope I can still find some in the party store.

Another great reason to start this weekend. No football. It's our 'bye' week so I have three extra hours to myself!
