In my mind I was singing "these are a few of my favorite things..." and I inserted guests into it after finding these delightful guests didn't use the shower and left not one piece of rubbish in the room and semi-made their bed.
At breakfast they made a big commotion about the food when I presented it, and thanked me again at the end, and when they checked out. They let me know that he thought the flowers in the room were fake and she touched them and she squealed "they are real!"
Finally someone noticed and commented.
These are a few of my favorite guests
(and at the end of the song was how I felt just now "and then I don't feeeeel so bad...or so saaaaaaad" after a busy season rolling to an end. Nice guests are the icing on the cake.)
...Feel free to share yours

Today's guests stopped in here in August to visit with friends who were staying here. Rather than go back to the place they were at in August, they thought our place was so nice they're staying here.
A little pat on the back for us.

Ya never know what or when you will have that "golden moment" for impressing someone. Just being yourselves is what did it, Congrats.

I was set against those who showed early yesterday when I arrived home with armloads of groceries and their room flowers and have to walk past them sitting in their car to go in the gate.
I tried to be them for a moment, "I am excited to get my romantic getaway going" so we show up early. :) It's all good. I did the song dance and hat tricks at breakfast this morning. What is always needed with just one room in.
But yesterday later in the evening Outside Innkeeper came home a little frazzled, he had hit a big buck on the highway while driving 65-70mph. He is fine, his car is not. The buck stood back up and staggered into high speed oncoming traffic in the other lane and ended his existence, DH was sad he couldn't go back and help or see if they were okay, he had his own dilemma.
Thankful for insurance, safe vehicles and God's hand protecting him. Could have ended worse.

Hope he is all well - those things are like hitting a wall, and then when your adrenalin wears off its like being hit with another truck - we have trouble with sheep where I am wretched things jump over walls and onto oncoming cars like a flying missile and we arn't even that country. Plus we have a massive Pheasant (dumb bird like a chicken in size) they are farmed for shooting parties in large numbers round here and they run out in front of cars, fly through your wind screen and so on - do quite a bit of damage for something that isn't that big but there are ruddy thousands of them and they basically run free all over.

Glad he is safe. In this State, only idiots do not have "deer insurance" as we call it. So glad outside innkeeper is OK as those things are deadly - either coming through the windshield or causing out of control. They will disappear here starting Monday as gun season starts. Prayer of thanks sent.

This week I've received a fresh pine wreath and a stuffed koala bear from two guests. The Koala was mailed from a previous guest who was here last spring. The accompanying note said that she was cleaning out some things and knew where 'this little guy needed to be'. He still had the tags on and was perfect for the one room of ours that didn't already have a little Australian critter on the bed!
