Just had a call asking to do an elopement on New Years. Sure - no problem.
Voice - I have one question. Can we have the ceremony without a license? We just want the ceremony.
Me - Why can't you get a license?
Voice - Well, I am not totally divorced yet.
Me - Please get your divorce first. You do not want to be in trouble for bigamy. It will be our joy to do your ceremony then.

Wow. One for the books is right! But if they just want some words said that have no meaning to the law or the church, they can stop by here and I'll say them. It won't be a legal marriage, but apparently that's OK with them!

I advised her to wait until the divorce is final. I told her it would be the best for HER. Then we will be happy to do their ceremony.

HER: I'm going to be married to two people at the same time!
YOU: That's bigamy!
HER: Big-of you? That's big-of ME!

If he said renewing vows then you could do it or was he trying to fool her into thinking she married him? I saw that on a Spanish Soap Opera, fake priest fake civil ceremony paperwork never filed.

No, SHE was the one calling. Sounded young on the phone. Made me think of the frying pan and the fire.
Have some breathing space between for goodness sake or make the same mistake again. I was told that the elopement we had where they were marrying each other AGAIN, went bust again for the same reason as the first time - willy did not stay home. Sad - their boys were so happy their parents were together gain.
