Had a major cancellation for a group that takes the whole inn for a weekend. It's during an essentially dead time so I'm looking for ideas how to drum up biz to make some of that back up.
It's also the inn's 30th anniversary so I might combine those two things into some sort of sale.
Any ideas?
(I'm not good organizing events, so I don't think we'll be doing a party. Maybe a daytime, town event thru the chamber, tho. But not an ongoing month-long thing.)

Congratulations on your anniversary! I think that is a great reason for a 'special package.'
Maybe a champagne reception for your guests?

No alcohol. But sounds like fun!
I was thinking of a month-long sale. Starting thru my email newsletter for repeats, then moving on to offering it online.
More or less something that requires no effort on my part. $30 off room rate? Special giveaway mugs or glasses?

Sorry about the cancellation! I hate those. I was also thinking $30 off due to the 30th anniversary. That's enough to attract some people's attention. Mugs or glasses would cost less, but a free mug is not enough to cause someone to book. $30 off would!

You do a Newsletter. Tout the 30-year anniversary and include a coupon they can print out for $30 off on the room during that month (then figure out if it is going to be for 1-night or per night of their stay).
I have no idea how much you like being in the kitchen, but rather than cups or stuff that is going to cost you, could you get a mold to make a chocolate 30 to give to guests that month. Or something else you could make because you do not know how many you will get (or do you have an idea of how many will come).

I like the $30 off idea.
Maybe a free mug to the first 30 people to make a reservation?

I hate being in the kitchen! However, I can buy local candies to make the number 30 in chocolate for each room.

My thoughts as well… Post it on FB, people like to "like" and "comment" on these posts, so you could get new guests in. Then bake a cake or buy one and have it out for check in. Cake time is at 4pm… (It could encourage them to all check in around that time as well.)

Happy 30th!
$30 off is a great idea. Send out the newsletter as soon as possible, say you are giving faithful guests the first opportunity to book, then offer will be posted to the public on XXX date.

Put some special restrictions to the offer such as pay at time of booking & non-refundable, or what you think you can do and still get guests.
