Tomorrow is the first (hopefully annual) "Taste of Town Twilight Holiday Inn and Cookie Tour."
We are limiting tickets to 100. Each of 6 inns will have 100 bags of cookies for strollers to pick up, plus we are open for looking around. We will have hot spiced cider and cheese and crackers for the strollers as well. I think we only have two rooms unoccupied, so that is what they will get to see.
Easier than last weekend when the tour was "inns and kitchens" and we had our personal kitchen open as well. More cleaning, more strollers and we closed, so all the rooms were open too.
Sunday is an innkeepers' holiday party. It's go! go! go! with this group.
I took Monday as a day off for my office job. I'll need it.

Let us know how that was organized. We've never been able to get a successful tour going.

One of our innkeepers thought it would be a good idea and pushed it.
Really, we are on a bandwagon. She only suggested it in September, so it came together quickly. She outlined the idea during a regular monthly meeting of innkeepers.
The town has a very active holiday life. On Saturday, there are: Jule Fest, Farmers Market, Gallery Stroll, Art museum gala, candy making demonstrations, an artisan sale, 20% off dinner at the new restaurant, singers and bands all over downtown. We selected this weekend to ride the wave.
The idea is that the gallery stroll, where you visit the galleries and they all offer refreshments and maybe a raffle, ends at 4. So we are saying, stretch the day to visit the inns, have dinner at 20% off and even spend the night.

Each inn will have 100 bags of cookies. We were careful to make sure each inn is offering a different type of cookie.
Along with the ticket to the tour, you receive a coupon for 20% off at the restaurant and some other coupons for shops in the downtown area.
We limited the number of tickets to 100 to be sure we had enough bags of cookies. There are 6 inns on the tour. Some of the inns that are not open, are helping by baking cookies and selling tickets. Some of the inns are offering packages including the tour.
The proceeds benefit our innkeepers scholarship fund and the town's New Years Eve celebration.

We piggybacked on a town wide event as well. Maybe we're just not organized enough. I think 10 was the best number we ever had come thru.

It was fun. We ended up selling 70 of 100 tickets. It was the first year, so I guess that is good. My friend who made our cookies was shocked at how much work it was.
We had a good time with the strollers. A few friends from the area, but mostly people who came for the tour from surrounding towns. Many neighbors remarked that it's good to know the inns for when their friends and families come into town. THAT is a good thing.
We have several bags of cookies left and I plan to put them in the rooms on Christmas Eve'.
Last observation - we were exhausted!!!! 3 - 7 is a long time to be 'on.'

Sounds like an excellent turnout!

Sounds like you did a wonderful job for the first year! Next year will be even better once the word gets out about what a wonderful time the strollers had.

Excellent turnout. People are always curious to see inside. Good to make it like this.

Sounds like a success! You never know what kind of a reward you will get from this type of promotion but it does help to keep your name out there.

Sounds like fun and it went well. We did tours way back when I was just starting out. Everyone really loved them: folks always ask about doing them again but unfortunately none of the inns work together any longer
